A reference thread for people wanting to make an urS6+ from a 'regular' urS6.

This needs to be made a sticky, in the 'C4 section' -

Would love to be doing this, and then put a supercharger on it, just to be sure. :roll eyes:

Yeah, that is Doug W. from Phoenix Arizona. Good guy with unbelievable patience and persistance (there were a few trials and tribulations along the way). Great project, considering what he had to start with (2.8L V6 autobox).

The project thread author, Doug W. isn't trying to fake an S6Plus. He just wanted to create a close facsimile of a vehicle that was never imported officially into NAmerica (there is a very early S6plus that did make it to the USofA through non-official channels). I had a 98 C4 V6 quattro autobox avant and I always said to myself "This car would be great if it only had a V8". (Eventually I bought the only V8 S4 avant in NAmerica). So I fully understand why Doug wanted to create a V8-powered C4 avant out of a V6 avant.

Isn't that just an A6 swapped with a V8? Would need to change a ton of parts if you wan't a 100% S6+ replica. Good job either way.

While Doug does compare his engine build to that of the higher compression/solid lifter S6plus engine, in no way does he say he is creating an S6plus. It's macspring's thread title that gives that implication. Doug never does.

So yes, it is a very nice 1997 C4 A6 V6 quattro autobox avant being converted to V8 on VEMS with 6-spd. Doug is creating a template for those that might want to follow with their own V8 swap.
