Help Urs6 engine hesitation / misfire under load.

Hello as above I have a 96 urs6 that has a hesitation problem when Car under load. Driving normally car drives fine try put the boot down it seems to go off a pot, let of slightly it's fine. Same again when first setting off its jerky and lumpy once rolling its fine. When car sat on tick over its very lump I have tried an engine flush but not made it any better car is doing 19 mpg around town which i am reading as normal. I think it's a coil pack braking down but don't no which one, is there anyone in my area that has a spare set of coil packs I could try just to find out. If it is the coil packs I think I will just go for the coil upgrade. Or if anyone else has any idea it could be please fire away.

    Cheers Mat

Agree with a bove.I had same problem only probably more severe. Each cylinder coils might be fine and so could the POS although both can be problematic. I am convinced mine was the wiring coming out of the rear of the alloy cover.Check these wires are not all cracked up causing arcing like mine were.

In the link I provided, there are a couple of methods to check for the weak coil(s). You need to use at least one of them to figure out what is going on.

Check / change your spark plugs, and also check / change the rubber boots that connect the coils to the plugs.

Follow through on Dave's links, a godsend for urS4/6 C4 owners.

Post the cause when you find it.

              Best wishes.

If you're running OEM coil pack i would recommend swapping to the newer coil style. No way they work properly after 2 decades. Even in that is not the main issues you will definitely have a better working engine.
