When you say the pipe behind the IM near the pas pump, are you meaning the one down on the block that connects the stat. I've heard of this perishing and leaking..

I had this one leaking on mine with no pool under the car, since the hot engine evaporated the water immediately. The only thing that was obvious was the greenish calc on the block.

O.K update, got a few mates round but because of the rain had to cut it short.

After the engine warmed up after a minute or two a steady stream can be seen coming out the bottom/side of rad although it doesn't seem to be the rad?

Going to try and take the rad out sunday. Is there any way to test if the rad is leaking.

Also will order thermostat pipe incase it's that, be on the phone to VAG parts early in the morning.

It began so promisingly but, I think i ran over a cat in a former life.

So guys how much is a brand new radiator?

Cause mines got the biggest fooking crack in it you've ever seen!!!!

If it's just the core that's cracked, you would be cheaper getting a recore. if the end tanks are gone, a new rad it will be.

Price will depend if your car has air con or not. Air con ones are usually more.

It's the end metal thats split i've got some pics i'll post em up later. I've sent it away to be looked at to see if it can be recored.

car isn't air-con which is good news.

I will look up the part number for you Jamo latter and see how much it is. If it is gone, DONT buy a cheap part like the Nissens rad. Ask anyone with one, what they think of it. BTW, I dont think AC makes any difference, but will check ETKA later on.

Unfortunately the pics i took have all come out crap.

If you look at left edge all the metal has split and broken.

Do you mean the plastic bit?? And yes you are right, they are crap pictures

The metal edge around the plastic has split and it is now leaking from the edge.
