Hello, my sister has an a3 that keep failing to start, vagcom says it cant connect to ecu at this point. The terminals have had a good clean and still it happens . Ive found an ecu on flebay for 60 quid but dont know whether the immobilizer can be disabled or even if the new ecu has it at all.
Any help would be appreciated.
I'll have to do it again and get the readout. point being if I get the other ecu of fleabay (with no keys or such) will the immobilizer be a problem or can I get it disabled?

You need to remove knee panel under the steering wheel and look at the relay 109. This is relay that powers up ECU. TDI engines from this era had a huge problem with this relay afters cars get some km on the clock.
Usually that have a cracked solder inside.
I bet when it does not start you dont see this preheat light on??
