    stroker

Why always use the 2,5 diesel and not the 2,4.
What is the difference on the block, is the 2,5 stronger or.

    2520cc with 83mm pistons and 95,5 crank
With less diameter bores you are in the 24xx cc displacement

          Stroke

2.5 engine is proven stronger, seen lots of 2.4 go bang, not so much the 2.5 since it was made for TDI not just NA Diesel.

The compression ration on the 2,4 is 22,0-1 and for the 2,5 tdi 19,5-1. So i think the block should be same strenght. But if you have an example it would be super

IIRC The 2.4 had a smalller bore of about 79-79.5, you'd have to remove a lot more material plus then you've got to machine all the mounting points etc. It can be done just a harder route.

2,4 5 pot does have the weaker block; compared to the 2,5... BUT they does may be used to a strong stroker... the bottom end are nearly the same.. the cranc are NOT the same as the 2,5...( 2,5tdi cranc does have the counter for the ign mounted in the cranc..a steelplate)...the 2,4 does have 79,5 bore, but you may rebore to 81mm safely.. the deckheight are the same -236,35.... all the other parts vill fit...
the conrods have 150mm and 24xpin , but we dont use them....the sylinderwalls ( thicknes are ca 6,1-6,3mm)...
2,5tdi blocks may be rebored to 82,5 or 83,00... seen some pl they do 84,00mm too, but i think the borespace are too narrow for that....
psst; there ARE some rare 2,5 PETROL 10v versons in eurovan 110hp... based on 2,4diesel block and cranc.. with 81,00 bore... but with the 150mm 24xpin and low comp pistons...

Wasn't here a guy with a stroker made of the 2.4l block and the got a nice clean hole in the bore wall. I'll guess the cylinder walls are thinner on the 2.4 block..?

nope...2520cc you already have with 82mm bore. With 83mm you have ~2580cc.

                      That's true

This is just my stroker setup with 82mm pistons

                        2,4 block = 79,5mm +6,2+6,2 = 91,9 total sylinder outside .. in the waterjacks...

2,5 tdi = 81,00 + 6,3+6,3 = 93,6.... the syl walls are slightly thicker.. but in all blocck the may bee some wrong in the castings.... then you may have some weak part...

in the VOLVO redblock b230 latest verson 88- syl bore are 96,00, sylinderwall are about ca 4,0-4,5mm.. they DO rebore some to 97mm... and have turbo on.. an they DO HAVE over 1000hp... but they have some concreate in the lowest part in the waterjacks..( ca 50mm fillin)

I think this is a fail in the casting. The wall between the cyl. must be the same, when they use the same crank. the 2,4 block must have more materiel between cyl, if not it would it have better cooling than the 2,5, if you only bore it to 80mm piston, i think it would be stronger. (i use a crank from a 2,5, but without trigger)
