    Homefries chip help

Just a silly question. I have bought some second hand Homefries chips for my ABY, the chap I've lined up to fit the chips only asked if I was able to verify which chip was which.

Here's a pic of the chips as I've received them

Could some helpful soul just point me in the right direction? One chip has a piece of masking tape on which says bott, is it going to be obvious that one chip goes on the bottom of the pcb? I'm new to this stuff so I don't even know what each chip does, let alone which one should go where. The chap fitting them knows his stuff, but just asked I could confirm which chip was which.

    Thanks for any help.

Not a homefries expert but the "bott" is probably "bottom board" = the board with the black Bosch MAP sensor (which BTW needs to be compatible with the homefries chip sets, some would use the stock MAP sensor, others will need upgraded MAP sensors = you need to find out whether chips are for 200 kPa, 250 kPa or 300 kPa MAP sensors).

This leaves the other chip "MOT 1 ON" (not "Motion"). Even with out the other chip labelled "bott" I woudl think the "MOT" = motor = the chip that goes on the top board.

Notches in the chips should face to the nearest edge of the metal case, not the furthest side.

That's excellent help thank you very much! I'm not sure how I'll find out which chip I have in relation to the MAP sensors though. I bought the chips from a chap on here with a similar aged ABY which was also an immobilised ecu so I guess I'm just hoping it's going to be compatible... I've been trying to get Paul of S2Central to take this job on but he doesn't seem to reply to pm's or use the site much anymore so I'm going to take the plunge with a local guy.

Had them fitted now and what a difference that has made! I also apparently had a dodgy dump valve with a boost leak, so they've changed it for a TT one? Not sure if that's what they said, but it was rated to 400bhp so should do the trick for my modest power. My only regret is it doesn't make the same waste noise now But really impressed with the power from just the homefries chip!

It's made a hell of a difference it really shifts now! It's noticeably quicker than my b5 S4 which was chipped too. Glad I finally got someone to fit the chips.

So, in the end, which MAP sensor was it, 250 kPa or 300 kPa?

Whatever is fitted to the aby as standard. I bought the chips off bertman and he advised that his car was otherwise standard with those chips, he'd not had the map sensors changed.

TT valve is the OEM 710N good valve. The homefries is a good little chip cars fly on them should hit 1.4 bar IIRC

I'm only getting 1 bar but it's solid from 3k. The chap at the garage was pleased with the boost so I'm not sure if it should make more... It does go very well now!

It will only make the extra boost if you are in 3rd gear and above and are hitting WOT i,e foot flat down.

If it is not making this then you need to get vagcom out and check your throttle is reporting WOT to the ECU.

See http://www.s2forum.com/forum/showthread.php?t=10806 I did test on homefries 9 years ago

Ah ok. I don't have a boost gauge on it, just had one on for road testing before and after the chip. 3rd gear onwards foot flat down is too terrifying with standard brakes.

As above, went for RS2 power and already wanting more . Quite like RS2 setup to be fair there's not a lot on the road that can live with an RS2 spec car

Buy yourself a large sea anchor and a strong chain and attach it to the tow hook at the rear and chuck it out the window when you need to stop quickly
