    MTM tuning question

My car has an MTM ecu and the "special hybrid MTM turbo", whatever that is.

Does anyone know the difference between this turbo and the standard one? I have just fitted a boost gauge which max's out at 1.4 bar which, iirc, is pretty much the norm after standard chipping.

If the boost is the same, what's the point in changing the turbo when something like a homefry doesn't require it?

you should check your boost behaviour through the rev range. An OEM K24 turbocharger is capable of some 1.4-1.45 bar peak boost, but then it needs to be lowered quite soon, while rpm raise, not to hit compressor choke line.
I don't remember the numbers, but I think from about 4000-4500 rpm boost should quite rapidly decrease to some 0.6-0.7 bar @ redline.
So your turbocharger might have been modifyed or built to give some higher flow (for keeping superior boost at higher rpm) without actually giving superior peak boost.
In short your turbo might allow same peak torque as a homefrye, while producing more peak hp than a std K24 would.
