    MAF or something else?

    Had some running issues which I thought might be a coil pack dying but when I pulled the codes I got the following;

    00531 - MAF Reference voltage
00532 - Transmission control module relay voltage (B+) malfunction low battery or bad signal
    1265 - EGR Vacuum regulator solenoid (N18)

Cleaned the MAF and tried to clear the codes but 00531 & 00532 won't erase and 1265 clears but just comes back again.

    Any ideas anyone?

    Cheers
    Andy

Give us a clue as to the engine and transmission that are involved and the ideas will flow faster.

Engine is 2.8 AAH with manual 5 speed, MAF I'm told is the same as S2.

i would look for an airleak somewhere on the intake or on little tubes
you can do this with a spray can brake cleaner

              In that case,

00531 - MAF Reference voltage = might be real
00532 - Transmission control module relay voltage (B+) malfunction low battery or bad signal = something is wrong. A manual transmission shouldn't have a transmission control module (TCM). The autobox cars do have one.
1265 - EGR Vacuum regulator solenoid (N18) = could be real

If you cleaned the MAF and tried to clear the codes but 00531 & 00532 won't erase and 1265 clears but just comes back again, I would say cleaning the MAF might not have involved cleaning the connectors. The EGR code could be real.

Who ever told you the AAH MAF is the same as the AAN, ABY, 3B MAF is wrong

              Those are 034133471K.

The PNs for the AAH MAF are 054133471A (early AAHs) and then 078133471A (or 078133471AX, rebuilt).

                  Thanks for the reply.

Yes 532 is an odd one not sure where that is coming from at all??

531 and 1265 am I looking at a faulty MAF and EGR or is it a supply/return signal issue?

When you say cleaning the connections on the MAF is that the external plug connection (which i cleaned) or are there internal connections I have missed?

                  Cheers
                  Andy

I am talking the male and female pins. On an AAN (ABY and 3B) MAF, sometimes one of the 5 pins in the 6 pin harness connector gets pushed back, out of the range of the male pins on the MAF proper and therefore, poor or no contact is made. Here is some info on that MAF that might help you:

Here is a pin pushed back in a 6 pin connector (this one happens to be for the TPS on an AAN/ABY/ADU - just to give you a reference point):
