    aan rods??

Turbo is hybrid kkk gt2871r rated to 450bhp.

what sort of power and torque will stock rods and pistons cope with?

Options for rod upgrades? And can rods be changed easily enough and used with stock pistons or will they require machining etc?

I dont really want to worry about a bent rod would rather put a stronger rod in for safety and then tune for max power rather than conservative tune. I want over 400hp really and strong torque.
Although car will be light approx 1 tonne.

Options for standalone? See vems do plug and play. Any good?

New to tuning these engines so go easy lol.

Have an rs2 I need to leave alone so this engine is going into another project and I can tune it to my hearts content!

    Many thanks

1.aftermarket rods can fit stock pistons.you should have them for a balanced again.
2.I have same turbo since 2009.Now she 's on VEMS and E85.I've been pushing 2bar
on it.never had any problems but i'd strongly you to get upgraded rods.At your own risk,
since now i'm pushing only 1,5bar ATM.the injectors already maxed out.

I am going to go for FCP Engineering rods, available on here. The X beam rods will give you loads of head room.

Pistons are fine for most power levels, as proven by various people. The only reason to change is to significantly lower the compression ratio or due to the block requiring a rebore.

Cheers so they can be installed without to much hassle which is a bonus.

Any other mods worthwhile doing at same time such as head gasket and arp hardware?

Quite interested in vems setup as plug and play. Best mappers in uk for vems??

What injectors do I need to suit?

          Thanks again

Standard Victor Reinz metal head gasket is fine and go for ARP head studs with sport quattro washers or the OE washers from the old head bolts, as the ARP washers are too small diameter, so can damage the head.

There are loads of other things that you can do but you'll need to upgrade the clutch with that power and if you're rebuilding the engine, you may want to go for a single mass flywheel and get the rotating components balanced.

No idea on VEMS. I believe that Mr. Tonks (tonks4x4) uses this but not 100%. There's a lot of support online but for Motronic mapping in the UK, it's either prj on here (dimitri) or Mark at Automark oop north. s2central.net did a GT2871 car, so may be worth a shout.

Cool thanks. Best place to source all these parts?

Clutch and flywheel are sorted single mass and tilton.

Will do some research on management

              cheers

You sure the 2871 will do 450? That's more 3071 territory I think.

Maxx seems well regarded, I don't think you can go wrong with Motec.
VEMS to me appears to be a PITA you are continually pissing about with and never get it running 100%, but maybe that's just how it appears
I'm sure some VEMS guys will be along shortly to put me straight

Its a 2871 kkk hybrid built by aet turbos and specced to 450.
                  A std 2871 like u say wont do 450

not interested in vems if its no good. Just saw a plug and play setup so thought would ask

                  interested to hear views

If you're putting it in what I think you are then a baffled sump is a must, even s2 suffer on hard cornering

If it's for track use, you need to rip out the OE breather system and replace it with something that works.

Will baffle sump and do custom breather setup thats no problem. Would like to find an rs2 inlet manifold if possible? How much r they new?

Is the oil channel in the rod required?

like all chaps said while you're there, baffled sump is a requirement on I5.the poor design of the breather port at the rear of the block is problem.
increasing in power means increasing G-force to push all the oil to the rear section.i believe some aftermarket rods has extra rifle drilled for
oil channel to lubricate more on bearings.Talking about the engine management,if you don't want to mess up with lotta tunings and learning skills,
doesn't need any more flexibilities.let's say any future upgrades on hardwares, fuels.you may ask some one for a remap.i'm living over half of the world away from all of you and there's only a few I5 motors in my country.that's why i went for VEMS.i believe if you're running VEMS,lot of chaps here can chime in and help you sorted. Also if you're upgrading rods.the thing should be done in one single time is checking rings, bearings, bores, valve guides,
valve seats, valve stem seals.it's a good time to refresh the motor since you're asking for a big power.it's worth any pennies for extra money for those parts bit.i remember i have seen some Dyno on GT2871/K26 can push out 440ish on pump gas.yesterday,i just ordered 11+0 billet wheel with extended tip for my 2871.dunno how was the spool on this billet since it's my first mods on 2871 and never found someone upgraded this on 2871 yet.0.02.

The rifle drilled rods are not essential but recommended - that is one thing I would do different on my build if I did it again.
