Strange noise ?

Had the RS2 on the road yesterday after a few months parked up. Put it in for MOT and passed, no issues...

When I got in to drive home I started her up and there was a strange wining noise, rising with the engine speed. My initial thought was a bearing in the alternator, it is coming from that area. The alternator is still working, now battery warning light, but I did have a flat battery this morning....

Any ideas, or how to track it down...

There could be rust buildup on the inside of the alternator. You could try removing belts and see if the noise persists.
