    Is this a boost leak?

Pulled away from some lights on the way home tonight and when I hit about 4000rpm in second it was as if someone had slammed on the brakes. Gave me a right shock.

The car is smooth at low revs but as soon as I give it some beans its like slamming into a wall.

Am I right in thinking this is a major boost leak or could it be something nastier.

One thing after another with the old girl at the mo

    Any ideas appreciated

    Cheers

That is the overboost protection cutting in. It can be a majority of things but most common is a boost leak. Try doing a pressure test.

Also try cleaning the electrical connections of your MAF.

        Seems ok now?????

Checked a few things out over the weekend but couldnt find anythig wrong.

Drove the car to work this morning and what ever caused this seems to have cleared up. Confused.

With the luck ive been having recently the engine will probably fall out on the way home.

Ive only ever had this happen once (touch wood) after two years of chasing boost leaks. Try disconnecting the MAF and clean contacts with electrical aerosol spray, reset ECU by disconnecting "moteur" fuses and you may be ok.

I also had these. VGF switch and lambda probe does these. If your MAF connection is clean, try disconnecting the black wire of the lambda going to the ECU and try the car. If still ill, VGF is my bet.
