hey guys,
I have a semi related question, I have a kind of similar issue in my 3b, I have a boost drop @ wot, it raises the boost to 1.3bar (chipped ecu with unknown software) and then slowly drops to ~0.8, tried that with good known ben swann chipped ecu, it raises pressure to 1.6bar, and then it drops. This is not RPM related. Had this problem for 3 years already. It looks like a boost leak, but i suspect MAF or n75, as every hose incl breather is silicon
I am on my way of installing a wideband on my car, so it might give an indication of what I am missing, fuel or air.
What values does one expect on open loop operation ant WOT on 3b? Same as aan you posted before? I know I will have to use it as estimates because of unknown software in my ecu, but.. Either the are kind of correct, or they are way off.
Thats my story http://www.motorgeek.com/viewtopic.php?f=10&t=55188
I am dropping my 3b injectors soon: http://www.motorgeek.com/viewtopic.php?f=16&t=39344
And I am installing a cheapo wideband soon: http://www.motorgeek.com/viewtopic.php?f=10&t=60625
Correct AFR

I've asked Alex for a loom already!
I'm planning on RS2 set up mapped by Dmitri one day so I need them anyway. But I just want it to run at least the winter cleanly on the stock ecu before I go buying the dearer bits just to have them sit on a shelf!Leave a comment:

I've had a few of these cars but I'm not the expert. These coils seem to be what a lot of people use for RS2 level and above when doing a COP conversion. I'll be trying them on my GT3071 setup soon, at the moment they're running on the avant which is just stock with a PRJ chip. Before that they were on my old avant with a hybrid turbo and 300 hp software, I'm sure there are cars here making 500 -600HP on these coils.
The TFSI coils need less dwell than the stock ones and can get hot on stock software especially if the cover is left in place. Forum wisdom is to leave the coil cover off and when you get your new software have the dwell reset. Many of us have used them with the cover off and stock software with no issues.
There are many threads on here about this, have a dig with the search button.Leave a comment:

The red coils you sent me the link for, what BHP figures do people use these at?? My goal is to go RS2-RS2 mapped spec, do you know if they'll suit?Leave a comment:

How does it compare to 034's loom? I run a garage so sourcing the coils isn't a problem really.Leave a comment:

Alex's (Error 404) wiring harness is excellent quality, I haven't seen the ebay one form germany so can't comment. The coils are all much the same AFAIK.

With a relatively small cost, I appreciate all of the suggestions but which of these is the best quality dude?I got a wiring harness from Error404 and the coils from here http://samtechperformance.co.uk/pres...roller=product
There is also an eBay seller whos does a complete kit.Leave a comment:

Dmitri. Couldn't agree more on your reasoning. The car is fine on light throttle. And yes I agree it's a good investment. I'll never sell this car.I would most likely know exactly what it is after doing 1 WOT run, but I don't have the car here.
I don't want you to buy coils just because I said so on the forum based on some info that could go either way. If it doesn't help then you're 400$ or so poorer for no reason, I'm not taking that responsibility. You're talking to a B5 RS4 owner though, 400$ is a tiny drop in the pond
Most likely nothing wrong with your POS/ECU wiring, because that would be there all the time, not only on WOT.
As for checking other coils on your car - you had a boost leak before, now it's fixed, might have been masking the problem.
Also, if your plugs are not the newest, then checking other coils might not do much. All these coils are mostly over 20 years old. There could be very little difference, and they could run fine on another car, and not on yours.
All that said - getting worse when the car gets hotter, hesitating at peak torque, lambda meter showing lean, getting worse when more boost is applied (via chipped ECU) points to coils and a plug and play coil loom is a sound investment if you wish to keep the car for a long period of time regardless.
And yes, it's not the money putting me off at all. I understand what you're saying about a B5 RS4. One of my cars is an E46 M3 track car that is used ONLY for the Nurburgring 3 times a year which has just received a £6,000 brake conversion (a have a very understanding girlfriend. lol)Leave a comment:

I was more thinking on the lines that; if I get the cool over kit at least I'd KNOW it wS ok, plus I plan on at LEAST RS2 spect one day so they'd be a good investment anyway!?Leave a comment:
