audi s2 firing order and ht lead order?

Hello everyone I done a pot few days ago about my s2 only running on 2 cylinders I have checked every wire sensor ect and even compression checked her. I moved the ht leads around tonight and now instead of cyliners 1 and 2 running 3 and 4 are running.. I know the firing order from front of the car to back is 1,2,4,5,3 could some kind kind person please take a picture of there distributer and show me which leads are going to which cylinder and going into the cylinder head.. I have timed it up on tdc and looked at the rotar arm position it looked about 7-8 oclock then worked the leads clockwise round, tonight I had another looked and moved the leads all around one position and now im running on 3 and 4.. This is where I think my problem is, if some one could brave the dark nights and take me a couple of pictures I will be very greatfull

Isn't that the wrong (too wide) rotor for a 3B? Is the direction of rotation clockwise or anticlockwise?

Walking towards a cliff blindfolded works for awhile too.

          And then it doesn't.

Spark hop thread: Including notes on trimming a 7A 14 mm wide rotor down to 9 mm.

          A photo from the thread, showing a non-3B and a 3B rotor:

Dave its a 3B rotor, hence the taper down the tip, rather than rectangular shape, also no tip curl back, just narrow flat bit at the front.

Just a silly one... You stated that you know the firing order is 12453

Your not getting mixed up the fact that the cylinder at the front of the engine is Cyl1 the next one is Cyl2 then Cyl3 then Cyl4 then Cyl5 is at the rear.

On the distributor it will go 12453 in a clockwise rotation.
So plug lead 1 will go from the front cylinder to the cap where the rotor arm is pointing at TDC.
The next plug lead 2 will go from cyl2 to the next clockwise position on the cap.
The next plug lead from cyl4 (the forth cylinder from the front of the engine) will go to the next clockwise position on the cap.
The next plug lead from cyl5 (the rear cylinder) will go to the next clockwise position on the cap
And finally the last plug lead will go from cyl3 (The 3rd one from the front of the engine) to the last position on the cap.
Assuming the centre hole on the cap goes to your ignition coil mounted on the bulkhead.

so i read it that he has done the dizzy correct but got the actual plug lead order confused. Eg mirrored the dizzy to the plugs? If so no wonder its unhappy.

We all make them. It's usually the blatantly obvious that's overlooked. I bet you were glad to hear the 5 cylinders?

Tom How do you know which is Cylinder 1 on the distributor cap - did you take a picture as I am still unsure I have put HT lead #1 at the correct position on the cap. In these pics, you can see the raised trangle of the old cap and the new cap and I put #1 lead opp the marking on the distributor body facing towards the front of the engine. I am really stuck so if anyone can help, it would be appreciated And again this is the diagram I followed - I put #1 lead at the front most terminal on the distributor (where the black dot is on the drawing of the cap) then followed it round with the rest as per the above firing order https://www.justanswer.com/audi/3j2g...-wire-cap.html

With the engine set at tdc, the rotor arm is pointing directly at cylinder 1 position.
