    RS2 cambelt - advise/guidance needed

    Hi - please help.....
I planned on doing a cambelt change on my RS2, as the current bet is 6 years old and done about 90k kms. So I ordered all the parts from my local Audi dealer, but after a month the cambelt had not arrived - ex Germany. I than place an order with Audi tradition on 2 Oct - as at today the belt has still not arrived.
I also contacted Gater (supplier in the UK) and they don't have any stock.
I then placed an order with 034Motorsport for their cambelt kit - which arrived in 7 days - collected yesterday.
The kit consists of the cambelt, and a waterpump - but the belt has 151 teeth - based on this forum, the RS2 belt should have 150 teeth.
So my question is - should I rather return the kit to 034 and wait for the original (assuming they will get produced), or is it OK to use the belt with the supplied waterpump.
    Please enlighten me.
    Thanx

I bought an RS2 cam belt and water pump last month from Audi Tradition which came within a couple of days. It'd be worth having a chat with Pete at Quattro Corner, I know he has the correct RS2 belt in stock.

Yea , the 150 teeth is needed for the RS2 water pump.

You can use the S2 aby water pump and 151 teeth belt. My rs2 has that aby setup.

@LGK6D - thanx for the feedback, you may have bought the last one from AT . I did mail Pete but paying with a debit card from SA is a challenge, and he didn't seem keen to ship to SA.
@irishs2 - so you saying it will work - ABY belt (151 teeth) with ABY waterpump (29 teeth on the water pump pulley) ? I assume no running issues - timing etc. Would I still set the cambelt one tooth to the left - i.e standard RS2 set-up?

Yea timing stays the same as standard rs2 setup.

Due to the non availability and profiteering, I was wondering if its possible to use a slightly wider belt from say the BAM 1.8T which appears to have the same tooth count and profile as the RS2. It is a 150X23mm vs 150X19mm.
A quick check on a manufacturers website (Dayco) appear to show the same construction and profile as the belt on the AAN/ABY.
So IF the profile is the same the issue would be whether a wider belt could be substituted without issue. That belt is easily available if it was suitable.

Is there room on the std crankshaft sprocket for a wider belt??

I found out that ABY cambelt fits also Nissan 200 S13 http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/GATES-RACI...item23431a3ffa because has the same GATES partnumber.

So I think that high strenght belt can be fitted to 2.2T 20V engines .IS it right?

Stock cam pulley is only 21mm though! Not sure if aftermarket ones are larger.
                      Just thinking aloud really.

Providing the belt dose not rub on any covers I can't see why a couple of mm over hang would hurt

Thanx for all the input guys.
Just an update - I also received the belt ordered from Audi Tradition yesterday , so now I have the "ABY" kit and the original OEM belt.
I think I'll have the OEM belt installed and keep the 034 kit as spare
Cheers and thanx again for all the advise and input

                            Audi Tradition's comments on profiteering.

After reading this story and seeing the RS2 timing belts for sale for an outrageous 200 Euro, I contacted Audi Tradition with this:

"Herr X: I am active on the S2Forum. There was a recent thread started by someone who was having difficulty getting a 034109119C cam belt for his RS2 ADU engine. It seemed that Audi Tradition had sold the last of its stock. Then someone says that somebody in Poland has several of these cam belts and is selling them at 200 Euros each, which, to me, is profiteering. I thought Audi Tradition was there, in part, to make parts available to Audi enthusiasts maintain their classic Audis, not selling multiple units of diminishing stock of rare parts to those with no other motive than to turn a profit at the expense of the enthusiast.

Here is the link to the persons advertisement for sale of the 034109119C cam belts. It would appear that his name is L. Kryszkowski:

Given this type of situation, Audi enthusiasts such as myself, will not turn to Audi Tradition as our first choice for rare parts. We will seek out alternative parts available from other cross-over applications and avoid Audi Tradition totally. I don't think anybody wants that situation.

Perhaps you might want to consider limiting the sale of rare parts to one or two units per person instead?

                            With respect,

                            David Forgie

94 Audi S4 avant with the ABH V8 engine"

Herr X replied this morning with two emails:

First one: "Dear David, 034109119C is available in our onlineshop since 14th of January 2013 permanently and worldwide!"

Second one: "034109119C was sold out between 2nd August till 10th of September"

So no comments on limiting the number of items sold to an individual.

                            WooHa!! Let the profiteering begin.
