They might mount up but they might not flow the same.

Ok they are pretty cheap it might be worth a punt.
It's not very often you hear of them failing though

They are really common across most post 96 Audis. Mine was throwing mixture adaptation codes 00561 IIRC. Was stalling coming up to junctions etc, as well as dog rough idle, sooty tail pipe. Wasn't running boost at the time as was running engine in

Cheers Alex , I read somewhere that sometimes they don't throw any codes up

I imagine if they go wrong enough to run badly there would be a code, otherwise the ECU will be able to adapt to compensate and carry on as normal

They aren't electrical devices connected to the ECU so there is no direct code. However, as mentioned, there could be indirect codes as a result of running too lean or too rich because the fuel pressure regulator (FPR) *OR* the vacuum line to the FPR has sprung a leak.

Interesting guys, Alex did yours behave badly all the time or just when cold for example ?
I replaced my hard line with silicone hose, it's all new.

How stiff is the silicone hose? It might be being sucked flat under vacuum and/or expanding under boost, killing ECU response speed. There was a good reason why the factory chose to use rigid tubing.

Hmm there has been a silicone hose on there for a long time, thick 8mm too.
I did even try flattening it by punching but made no difference to idle
