After a bit of searching ( this article is interesting, http://forums.mg-rover.org/showthread.php?t=406766) I don't think I would take the risk.

as an aside cant understand why a component like that would only carry a 1 year guarantee thb

Yeah, I agree. A good component should be guaranteed for a decent amount of time ( 5-10 years, or life) as long as warranty stated use and abuse is adhered to.

you may find that no motorsport part type thing carries any warranty that is tangible.

tbh they all look very similar to me. ive used scats, that look the same.

id just get them weight matched as a minimum.

Yeah, the generic picture looks like a good design but I would be worried whether the machining (big end/rod end) measurements are accurate.

From my point of view it should not have any warranty.OE or OEM parts used in OE applications may have warranty.Engine is tested to last with existing parts. Why have warranty on something used in an engine that runs most of the time management and parts that are not made for fail-safe?

Yup, apparently a lot of the china forged rods come from the same place, cost comes from quality control and final machining.
