vMap information
The problem is Feico Van der Laan, the inventor of the vMAP died
a few years back (shock to the NAmerican UrS folks for sure).
As a result, his website, moreboost.com, is no longer functioning.
For the 30120, this is what Feico said on audiworld:
"It may seem that way at first. But it is quite simple. i.e. 40421 ... The first 3 digits is the range information. 40 = 4 bar 4 = 4 bits (16 ranges) 2 = Bosch/Precision 1 = Throttle programing support
3 bar = 30120 (2.5/3.0 Bar)
4 bar = 40420 (2.5 - 4.0 Bar Step 0.1 Bar)
4 bar = 40421 (2.5 - 4.0 Bar Step 0.1 Bar)
This is throttle programming ready but needs another active "special" cable to support it ...
Yours is a 3 bar VMAP it support 3.0 bar and 2.5 bar. The 30120 number on the chip = 3.0 Bar. All settings are 3 bar except when all the jumpers are removed (leave Jumper 1 in to set Bosch mode) ... then it is set to 2.5 Bar. For consistency all VMAPs are shipped with the same jumper configuration and this is set to 3.0 regardless if the unit is 3 bar or 4 bar. Units produced in 2005 have a clear indication what they are on the unit. 30120-XXX will state 2.5/3.0 bar below it and 40421-XXX will state 2.5-4.0 bar 0.1 step. The XXX is the last 3 digits of the serial number. All this information can be found at www.moreboost.com
The throttle programming is rare. You need the 40421 firmware (4.0 bar) and a "special" cable (has active components built into it). These cables are hand made and currently expensive to make. There are less than 10 out there. If you didn't ask and pay extra for it you don't have it. 30120 does not support throttle programming ... The chip however can be upgraded if needed in future - however it is more economical to get start with a 4 bar unit. Some tuners only want 3.0/2.5 to prevent the end user from changing the settings.
Best regards,
Feico van der Laan "

For future reference, for the electronically adjustable 40421 VMAP I did find this:
I will keep looking.

Found it via the wayback machine website:
Go to VMAP-D, 3.0 Bar

Thank you! Now I'll see if my MAP sensor is not working properly or the problem is the jumper setup. Will give feedback after testing!Comment
