3b motronic, please help with chip ID

    Hi there,

working on my car now, it is 200 20v 3b, so please no hate ;-]

For the first, I have installed cheapo wideband controller in my car but this will be discussed in another thread. While installing it i had to remove the glovebox and the ecu and i couldn't resist opening it...

Car boosts to 1,3bar and the pressure sensor is only 200kpa. the ecu was like this since i bought the car in Germany.

    Anybody seen those before?
and no, 202kw is not the current output.. i guess

If you read the data off the chips you will more than likely find out who created the maps. You could also try using Vagcom to read the ECU and you may see some info under the main ECU description which will help identify the mapper.

I will not read the chips because I don't have a programmer and it is really not worth doing so at the moment. While reading with vag-com the only interesting indication i get that the ecu gets indentified as RR ecu, not 3b.

      VAG-COM Version: Release 409.1-S
      Control Module Part Number: 857 907 404 B
Component and/or Version: MOTOR PMC 1
      Software Coding: 0261200453
      Work Shop Code: 1267356261

If it has 1.3 bar with 200kpa MAP sensor that means there is no boost control at all.

You don't need to see me, but maybe it would be beneficial to see me

in case of me running stock setup in my car, except for chip, EM, and direct replacement injectors from volvo

can this be done by shipping proper chips and pressure sensor to me? Or i can buy sensor myself. I am comfortable with opening ecuand soldering.

Or it is necessary to map it live?

with these chips you need a Bosch 250Kpa map sensor from Aby engine, and one step stiffer WG. spring, ore tighten original WG. spring,
+ I recommend a MLS head gasket if you have a fiber gasket

                  thank you.
                  any info/datasheets/links about those chips?

so basically it should be plug and play with new 250kpa sensor (not planning to run more than 1.5bar anyway)
Or it is possible, that my chips are actually mapped for 200kpa sensor? Engine running well.

You can run the car with the the original 200kpa sensor and the turbo will make ~1bar max boost from begin to end, en produce ~260HP with stock WG. spring and pressure.

1,3bar come probably from a manipulated wastegate.

Or with the 250kpa sensor and it will make ~1,5bar max boost, boost on top range depends of the wastegate spring pressure, it schoult be at about ~1,1-1,2bar.
Set the wastegate spring pressure just enough to reach 1,5bar on the low / mid range and it should be fine.
with this the car will make ~270-275HP --> 202KW

strange thing is that my WG is still a virgin. at least for the adjustment blot. maybe the cap was taken off, not sure.

You're saying all this **** based on two stickers?
Sorry, but my bs-o-meter went off the scale here.

I recommend following these instructions to quickly melt your dizzy based 20v engine

Would be interesting to hear some references to your sources mr. three-post-guy.

well i know that too stiff spring has once resulted in a catastrophic failure for my mate.. So I rather not do that.

I have recently installed wideband controller and i have an analogue boost gauge to keep an eye on things, but i rather be careful

I used the same software on my 3b for long time with 250kpa and 1 step stiffer spring and it worked very fine, a lot of people used the same software in Germany without any problem, you can recognize the this software with the stickers.

apparently this is this one: <link deleted>

but but but how can this both work with 200kpa and 250kpa sensor? i mean from what i know output voltage from sensor is the same for 200kpa sensor @ 1 bar as it is for 250kpa @ 1.5 bar, right?
