    -85 URQ 20V 3B conversion - engine wiring loom

    Hi
As in the title: Which engine wiring loom is best when converting my -85 URQ to 3B engine. S2 3B will work I guess, can I use 200 20V loom? Going for a loom search, if theres different looms that will do the job I want to know

You can use a 200q20v, but involves a bit more than the S2 version BTDT on my '85 with 3B engine and S2 wiring loom

Thanks for the replies guys , I'll be looking for a 3B S2 loom. Guess it will have to be from a LHD S2 as the URQ is LHD.

I believe Rocco has a loom and ECU left from his S2

What differences are there between S2 3B and 200 20v that makes S2 one easier to use?
When i did mine there was like 4-5 connectors to plug in and one large black one where i had to change one or two pins. 200 20v loom that is.

These small chassie cars share pretty much the same main fuse box from typ85 to B4 chassi cars, which makes it quite easy getting it connected. I guess that a 200 20V is somewhat like using a AAN loom from a S4 C4 or a S6 C4, it needs taking out individual wires and getting them in the right connectors rather than just swapping connectors.

The 200 20v shares the same fusebox as the late type 85 (early type 85 is diffferent from what ive read.) I used the 200 20v loom in my 3B conversion in my Audi coupé quattro 1986.
A few "plug in" connectors to the fusebox for 12v and 1 or 2 pins needed to be moved in the large black "B"-plug to get signal to the starter If i remember correct.

Apart from the loom probably being an inch shorter inside the car, i'm still interested in knowing what other differences makes the S2-loom preferable over the 200 20v.

To answer Leif Helge, I would recommend going for a ABY one right away, you Will regret going 3B sooner or later. BTDT. But then theres always the "pin swap".

Ok, thanks for the tips, will check Rocco's for sale posts. 3B would be easier to pass the MOT with I think.

A 200 loom is easy enough then. I have only touched AAN looms, I am at this moment redoing the wiring in my 4000 CS with AAN loom to get it properly installed. But it isn't really hard with the AAN either, only downside is that the wiring is quite long compared to what is needed, but that is getting shortened down in the process.

Different car sizes with different length looms seems like a possible problem, even different location of for example the ECU would make the looms differ.
I'm messaging a guy from Nordicaudi now, he has a 200 20V Loom for sale, maybe the Swedes prefer this loom for a conversion?

Because the S2 loom enters the car on the driver side, it eliminates 2 urquattro harnesses.. the ECU/Motor one from the pass side, and also the one that feeds the cluster with signals.
I did it both ways and found the S2 loom to be much easier/cleaner approach.

Good info! Is the ECU mounted on the drivers side too or is there a branch going over to the passanger-side? The same goes for the ABY loom?
