    impressive Dyno sheet - how?

    Hi,

found some old Hulsen project Audi 10v turbo and what impressed me - Dyno curve

How could this be achieved? Good spool and torque all the way to 8k rpm. Any thoughts what could make it so well breathing? Never seen such a nice one...

    All info i found: http://www.hulsenturbotuning.nl/proj...urbo-2011.html

    2014 dyno:

#1 reason - very slow ramp rate on dyno (like running on the road in 6th gear)
    #2 bigg-ish turbo and low boost - ~1.4-1.5 bar.
#3 engine is probably not 2.2 liters.

Or alternatively there is something wrong with the graph - the dyno certainly does not seem of any common make/model or there can be a RPM calibration problem stretching the band.

but torue is linear - would DYNO corrections cause this? I thought that u could only adjust power band start/end, but not power/torque curves as well?

You always need to look at the scaling of power and torque and the units its being measured in. The scaling for torque and bhp are not the same which helps make the torque curve look good against the bhp. Also the torque is being measured in NM not ft/lb. 575nm only equates to low 400ft/lb so its not got the huge amount of torque that it looks? If the scaling was the same and it was measured in ft/lb then the 2 lines dissect at 5250rpm you can see that would give it much less area under the line.

the most impressive part here is breathing all the way to redline. Knowing 10v head and it's properties i was just wondering how this could be achieved. Starting 4k+ rpm and finishing almost to 8k rpm with no torque loss. Don't event remember if somebody here have ever posted 20vt similar dyno plot ( not peak numbers).

If you use same boost on an engine all the way to the redline (on a big efficient turbo as PRJ said) and it has good cam setup most probably it will give almost flat torque curve all the way.

Yes or you can ramp boost towards redline, so when it stops breathing, you can compensate with a higher pressure ratio.

It is not a problem to create a such torque curve ...
