    heating problem rs2

    Hi guys,
Have a problem with my rs2.
When I drive in the city she goes to 90 degree's and stay there, when I drive on the highway she goes under the 90 degree's. When there is traffic she warm up really hot and turn on the first time on the first point almost 100 degree's and the second switch even more. The warning lamp came one time on the dashboard. I changed every sensor, thermostat and cylinder head packing with no results.
    Anyone suggestions?

    Greetings

Flushed coolant circuit? Flow ok? No water in the circuit? Any excessive pressure on the reservoir?
    Waterpump checked and ok?

And so the electric fan is kicking in correctly?

Check thermostat. Not unheard of to have a new that is a dud and does not work.

Make sure that your radiator is not stopped up. Mine was stopped up and water did not flow right and causing overheating problem. Also check to make sure that your resistor for the fan is ok. On mine one of the wires was broken and it caused the first speed not to work, instead fan was turning on on second speed first which means your water temp has to get around 100 degrees if i am recalling correctly.

How can I clean my radiator? I already think the flow is not good. The little one is already redone.
          Water and thermostat are ok

unless you hava specialist close that can clean one, your chances of cleaning one properly by yourself are small. New ones are not that extremely expansive and still available.

if you always have the coolant additive on the coolant system, chances to be clogged up inside the radiator core patches is almost impossible.
I have seen the car with all rusty coolant system is still doing fine.At operating temp, you could probably touch the radiator core from up to down to see if it's getting hot equally.if yes i don't think you have any problems with radiator.
i would start investigating by checking your electric fan speed(1,2 speed).Closed the hood and find some clothes covered on the front grill once the temp has reached the temp(95 C first speed/102C second speed),the electric fan should kick in.if everything is fine,i would check the T-stat.
the stock T-stat is 87C,You just throw it in the boil water and check if the valve stuck open.
losing any coolants once the temp jumped up?

I had similar problem and found lower half of main radiator was blocked causing poor circulation tried to unblock but found
a new main radiator cheaper than to have mine repaired

here we are again with a little more explanation of my problem.

The car has already 2 times changed his cilinder head gasket and the head was controlled for a crack, everything was fine. again the first months there is already no abnormally pressure on the water lines, Then the first time i had some traffic it's begon agian. the watertemperature rise and rise untill the first point and then it click the first time. i don't wanna breake something so i put my car of the road and let the engine cool down. the next months after no problems of overheating again but again in traffic the temeperatures rise. when i drive on the highway the temperature always going under 90 degrees. I put my car to a specialist for a watercooling pressure test and found again exhaust gas in my water. This summer i will open the block once aigain but i wont to find the problem, now i found that the tube that goes to the main radiator underside stay cool, so i tought it was the radiator but when i release the pressure of the water the radiator warms up and the running after pump starts to work.
i want to be sure that this summer the car is finally repaired so everything i need to control or changed are welcome. the last time i changed the fan sensor, the temperature sensor on the block, controlled the wiring of the sensors, thermostat.

also can it be the turbo?

i did a compression test today,
                      cylinder 1 had 12 bar
                      cylinder 2 had 10,5 bar
                      cylinder 3 had 11,5 bar
                      cylinder 4 had 10,5 bar
                      cylinder 5 had 11,2 bar

does anyone how much bar you need normal? and what's the toleration between the cylinders?

new waterpump arrived from pk motorsport and i have to say great quallity

Very similar symptoms to what I had, changed the radiator and had a healthy car again.

A quick test you can do if you drop the coolant is to put some hose into the top of the radiator, see how long it takes 2l of water to flow through. On mine it took about 2 minutes before I changed it and maybe 15 seconds afterwards...

If the radiator really is blocked it will have a very poor flow rate through it and you'll know to change it. if not, you can rule it out. A typical good rad should be 8-9l per minute according to google, more if pressurised.
