    Superchips are amazing.

Right, now I have your attention.

Had a look in my ECU today to see what MTM chip I'm running, only to find the ECU incredibly difficult to pull apart. I had it apart enough to peak inside and see that the chip has the superchips logo on.

Is my car going to explode ?

The car itself runs fantastic, but I want to check other bits haven't been bodged... How does one check the waste gate? To see if they have tampered with it?

I always thought the car ran incredibly rich.

Superchips used to come up quite frequently on the forum, although I don't remember seeing anything mentioned for quite some time (Probably for the best!).

I believe one of the Superchips mods was to fit a bolt to the wastegate top cap in order to wind down and increase the pressure on the wastegate spring to increase boost. It's a rather agricultural and unsophisticated mod so check your's to see whether the cap has been tampered with.

Your ecu has two chips (one on each side of the board), one is a boost chip and the other a fueling/timing chip. I'm sure I remember hearing that Superchips only replaced the fuel chip which is why they use the wastegate mod to try and increase mechanical boost. Don't quote me on this though. I'm sure you'll find some info if you search the forum for "Superchips"

I took the liberty of searching for you. Seems like you should also check your WGFV (N75)...

I don't have a screw, but there is a bolt.

        I'll check the N75 now.

            Still connected.

Anyone know if the nut on the top is a way of pushing down on the internal spring??

Another thing to add to the list?

              Thanks for the help.

I guess it is never a good omen when te company can't count to five!

Will the engine still be protected by the ecu in this setup?

Get rid of that ****, put the standard spring in (if it's not standard) and try to get a standard bolt in, then send the ECU to me for cancer removal surgery.

Good point One of the reasons I bought the car was an MTM remap.

Still... She's a good looking old bird. Even in back to the future mode.
