Found a rather large oil patch on the drive a few days ago and eventually found a knackered Switch, couldn't tell which one was leaking so ordered both courtesy of VAG Parts (Cheers Guys )

BTDT on a couple of S2's. Bit a turd of a job cos of access down there. Fairly common source of a leak too.

Biggest problem I had was the body of the guage sender rotated on the mounting. I couldn't get enough purchase with bendy spanners underneath the thing to remove it. Totally seized on. Had to rip the body off the thing then use a socket to remove the fitting in the block. PITA !

Did this last time i was underneath the car too, the pressure switches always go, did on all my other VAG cars. Like you all say, a total bitch to get to. Had to take out the rad fan and cowling.

The reason a couple of the hoses look crappy is because when i bought the car one of the hoses above it had a very small leak covering everything in coolant for a while
i only found out whilst driving home from work in heavy traffic
Cost me 50 quid to get towed 8 mile home
                      I replace the hose BTW.

Just been out to the car and seen that i'm missing a flipping (or words to that effect) Centre Cap

is it martinjs that works at VAG parts?
i need to get in touch with him............

I just found this thread - which has helped me identify a leaking oil pressure switch on mny car. Have made a right mess with oil every where !!!

Just going to get a new switch and wondered if anyone knows the the torque for tightening the new switch ???

                            Oil Pressure switch leak

Great thread this. Wish I'd found a couple of days ago though.

I'm a newbie S2 owner (Red '96 Coupe) of about 4 weeks now. Private sale from a user of this forum, which I'm sure is a good sign.
Upside is that it's a late model with driver airbag and QRSport big brake conversion, and CAT back Miltek system, sounds lovely, no aircon, preferred by me as I prefer to roll down the window and hear the zorst even when it's not that warm.

Downside is questionable story about the lack of 'quattro' insignia in the seats and door cards due to it being such a late model they ran out of stock ? The seat look right but somehow on a £30K car you fit the correct seats don't you ? Anyone head of this ? Water temp was too cool cruising so either the stat was out or stuck open. Aux rad flaking on touch so this had to be seen to.
Previous owner was not an 'engine man' and bay reflected that.
5 litres of engine cleaner and all the parts needed, decided to tackle it the other day and changed the stat and had the rad recored at Anglian Radiators in Cambridge for £69 plus vat. Compared to £195 plus from Audi .

All back together with a spanking clean left side of the engine with perfect water temp and I discover the oil pressure switch is leaking ! Next job. Oh and the back brakes are virtually none existant, and one of the rear driveshaft oil seals needs replacing and, the engine cuts out accelerating hard between 2800 and 4500rpm, just for a moment like a limiter , and, and

Still I like the car . It has excellent oil pressure and rattle free on a cold startup.
It can only get better !

heh....I have this to tackle yet, replaced one which was leaking and now the other is at it.....grrrr

Access is a total nightmare though the spanner was a good move

Any idea on the price of the smaller one of the two sensors?

                              Cheers
