    Code 2142

Went out in the UR a couple of days ago and experienced a lack of power, so upon my return I pulled the codes. It's a 1990 RR engined quattro, similar to the 3B and it came up with code 2142.

Is this the first knock sensor closest to the front of the engine or the one towards the flywheel?

Also, are these relatively easy to change?

Last of all, do I have to go to the stealers or are there other suppliers where I can get it from?

They're fiddly to get to but easy to change.

make sure you tighten them up to the correct torque, so as not to crush them. 25Nm I seem to remember.

Get the Bosch equivalents, the only differences between the Audi ones are the lead length and connector colour, i.e. nothing that matters.

Change both for what it's worth.

      Thanks Rusty.

I genuinely believe that this has been the cause of the hesitation problem all along, but was never completely broken to the point where it would show up in the ECU codes.

I'll give GSF a call and see what they can do when I find some part numbers.
