    boost gauge

After a long lay up I've finished my car but when running the boost gauge is indicating a negative reading surely it should read zero and then positive pressure when revs increase how can you zero the gauge as I have not fitted it and was on the car when I bought it cheers jamie

Intake manifold is under vacuum at idle and low throttle so the gauge will show inHg (inches of mercury). Gauge should be at zero with the engine off.

It will go to zero over a certain throttle position, then positive as boost builds.

Stock ABY should get about 1.1 bar, 16 psi peal boost I think.

Fit a blank with a schrader valve into the maf hose, disconnect the crank case breather from the maf hose and plug the maf hose, pressurize the intake, spraying down with soapy water can help find leaks. Check all joins, injector seats, isv etc, also small bore vacuum lines.

Vag com is best for codes, you need a 2x2 adapter, I think a 2x2 adapter works with some of the obd readers.

If you have a search for boost leak and fault codes there is a load of threads/info.
