    Lamda (air/fuel ration gauge) question?

    hy,

I' ll tried to search for that kind on treads, but I couln' t find anything like that.

recently I bought "Auto Gauge" air/fual ration gauge (AFRLED-20W )

Now, it' s installed and I have some questions.
How true this gauge can it be? The paper wich comes with this products says: lean range(four red leds): 0,050 to 0, 249V - Stoichiometric Range (ten yellow leds) 0,250 to 0,749V and rich range (six green leds) 0,750 to 1V.

    Ok, it' s working.
If the car just running on place, then the indicator shows the stoich leds, with means normal I guess. When I go for a drive and push the gas pedal down, green light will aperas, witch should means that rich air/fuel ratio.

Anyway, I talking aout 3b engine.

The problem is . . . when I driving normal, no mounatains, no down hill or anything like that, then all the lights goes off and when I accelerate, then again green light goes on. But why lights goes off on normal run? Is there chance, that the lambda isn' t working properly? Because when I push the gas pedal, then light goes on, and when the car running on place, then stoich lights are on. And on the road, when I let the gas pedal off, and gentel push again it, then light goes on.

But the paper with comes with the product, says that light should be on all the time.

    any ideas?

    with best regards,

    Hi

I got Lumenition A/F meter fitted.

The thing is (as far as I know)-when u release throtle-the ecu shuts ups fuel suply to engine-so there is no combustion. As soon as u touch throtl or engine goes into idle position-the lights should come up.

When u accelerating-there is requirement for a bit richer mixture, so ecu increases fuel, so u get green lights. On normal cruising-steady 70mph, u should have amber, with not much light running. On the city driving-the lights should run from red to green, an so on.

This indicator is realy esential tool-as it will able u to see if there is not enough fuel-or in my case lamda dead

Please correct if I'm wrong in these asumptions.

    Cheers

    Andrius

      Hi Andrius,

      yes, You understand me perfecly.
But . . . normal run, engile about 90C* and on air/fuel gauge, theres no light at all. I mean that, there' s not on any light wich shows air/fuel mixture. Thats way I guessed, sometihing wrong with lambda.

But hey, maybe it' s normal?

but . . . that paper with comes with the product say next: " At cruising load the monitor will appear to be bouncing back and forth between rich and lean. This is normal."

Anyway, car run perfecty, no any problems - just that little thing with this gauge.

      Secondly, one question more.
With the same time I installed turbo gauge and it' s shows 1bar pressure.
I have read that on 3b engine normal is 0,6bar. Wasgate seem to be original condition (I mean, anybody havent open it up) and about ECU I can' t tell anything, because I can' t get it (I mean, it pain in the a**, to get it).
I have compared my car, with stock s4 (c4, 206kw, 6speed manual) 1/4 mile, and my car is bit faster, than s4.
Any ideas why turbo boost @1bar?

      with best regards,

        hi again,

Today i noticed that, air/fuel gauge goint to work normally about 2500rpm. Then it' s shows (I hope) right info. If the rotations are lower than 2000, the gauge don' t want to light any led.

        but abaout that 1bar overboost.
Today I have even seen 1,4 bar@3 gear.

So, i startet to find the "problem".
Wasgate was original shape inside, ok, then ecu.

Hmm, this is chipped, but Dupre Motosport? What is that? On one eeprom has written (like you car see) 270 (hp)??? Anyone knows about that Dupre Motosport chips? how many torque, kw?

only thing that I could find is:

It seems, that your ecu is modified a bit, I mean not only eproms. However don't know 3b ecu's very well. It is interesting why such modification with diode was needed.

            exactly my point.
The car runnig perfelcty, I mean, I never driven with any other s2, but this one moves bit faster, than S4 (169kw) seems to slower, even s4 (v8/206kw-6speed manual).

            But one thing more.
Today I tested with 70C* motor. With 4gear turbo push 1,6bar overboost, but if engine is 90C*, then never exceed 1bar. Is this normal?

Anyway, does anyone knows about Dupre Motosport chips? Are they any good, or is there on the market better chips for original engine, tubo, ect?

            with best regards,

                hmm, what you thik exactly?

About 40km/h, 4 gear/ 70C* motor and I pussed gas pedal way down. @ 100km/h (I really don' t know how much was the rpm) the turbo gauge was showing 1,6bar. But is' t only when engine is not hot (90C*).
With 3gear turbo gauge shows about 1,5bar.

it was showing green = rich.

I just finished testing my brohers lambda (s4, c4, 2.2t) ja results was the same.
If I drive about 15min, then max boost that I can get is 1bar. But if I wait about 10-15min. then with 4 gear, turbo boost 1,6bar (100km/h).
it' s wierd, like something stopping boost.

                    Any ideas?

P.S> Now I going to test another lambda

If you see green, so thats ok than. I tought than it could get lean, but i think that is conpensate by the FPR more boost more pressure to the injectors.

ok, but could You say(explain it) it to me . . . how FRP and my case (if I stop engine for 10min) are involved?

No, I can`t and I can say that it is not FPR related. I only asked you for your Meter, just to know if your car was running lean.

Have you tried to floor it in 4th from 1500 to high rpm with hot engine ?

Yes, about 100km/h its ' s 1bar (I mean, till then, it grows) then it slowly goint to drop.

Anyway, I just came outside & tried next lambda. The same story, but mine lambda frieds S4 worked just fine, I mean, he' s got the same a/f meter.
But hey, maybe it' s normal that a/f doesn' t show my any information down 2300rpm (but, if there 1500rpm and I push the pedal down, then it shows info).

Anyway, bit mystery is why overboost is bigger when engine to stop for 10min.

                            with best regards,

                              and heres' s 2 videos:

first - engine about 70C*, driver 15km, max. boost 1bar.

second - engine temp the same (60-70C*), but car (engine) has spopped for a 10. minutes, max boost 1,6 bar.
