There was a thread somewhere that you shoud not use second hand headgasket, I am planning to get head of after RR bristol to add another head gasket to bring head to its original position or maybe higher.

Quick question is how much do I need to add , a full headgasket or just a metal bits and are you sure I cant use one new ond one 12 month old?
I had to skim 0.25 mm of the head due to warped head.
      thx

Just add the thick layer mate, and you shouldnt use the old stuff, its not worth it for the money a new one costs. Speak to Doug about the exact bits to use as he did that trick with his gasket.

Thats a lot to take off a head. Must have been warped badly.

I had exactly the same problem but have diagnosed mine down to a core plug on the back of the head (AAN) that had previously been pugged with silicone. I too have seen oil coming from this corner of the head gasket, but it stopped when i changed the thermostat and is now running at the correct temps. Any ideas on how to solve this leak from the core plug please fire away, i have checked etka and it doesn't seem to list a replacement, oh what a surprise.

And welcome to all first time here been on audifans donkeys years!!1 sorry only just found you

Welcome Iain. Standard core plugs are available from any good motor factors for little money. My local motor factors charges about 15p each for them!! Not easy to change in situ due to some restricted access.
