    Turbo smoke?

Your all going to be sick of me by now got the car running okay again today with a good air mass on but after a hot run she starts smoking again, bad around town then go on the motorway 50+ for a few min it clears and fine around town for a while, if I start it again after few min smoke again then clears once bit of speed up, just had all the valves recut and new oil seals on aswell so I know he engines fine, had rings with the rebuild aswell there no crankcase pressure, some people have reported similar things then say it goes after a while? loosing the will to live with this car

To be honest it looks like these were not S2 K24 turbos. One has a clue on the compressor cover (AMG) and if the specs are accurate it looks as though the turbine wheels are too small for the Audi application. In fact just looking at the pic of the turbine housing exit, it seems much smaller than stock.
This would mean that in theory the turbo would be prone to overspeeding effectively and may or may not be contributing to your issues if already damaged.
If you have your original you could simply replace it having checked the dimensions against each other. Assuming that is that the original turbo was sound.

Might have been a bit too quick to knock these!
When I looked at these on ebay i thought two things. The first that the dimensions given didn't sound right. The second, that they didn't look new/unused. One at least looked like it had the telltale of the erosion on the turbine housing. I also didn't like the way they were different on the compressor housing with the nub on one to stop the hose going on too far and not the other.
        Then I found this:

Bit of a coincidence that one also has this AMG mark on it although this may be a factory casting ID, I can't say I have seen it before.

Before condemming the turbo might be worthwhile to check the PCV system. This can cause issues if clogged up with gunk and the large black valve is inoperative.

Sure mine doesn't have a PVC as such it's been deleted and goes into a oil catch tank

On an avant I bought it smoked once up to temp On idle but cleared on a run until On full boost, there was quite a bit of oil in the intercooler and intakes when I stripped it down. A 100 quid low mile second item and all was well..

Might be an idea to post a pic or two so that others can comment on how that has been done! Perhaps in another thread!
Obviously we assume the car is stock unless we know different!

I've managed to get a refund on the turbo and have a good one on its way off Rikki Kitto so fingers crossed she will be okay after this one I'll take some pictures when I'm next on the car, it's standard apart from a map and forged rods, port and polished head and was rebuilt using all oem parts 800 miles ago apart from the rods
