porsche 968 MAF on AAN plug and play?

my MAF on my S6 died and im running on a loaner. i have a chance to get a MAF from a 968 porsche but i dont think it will be drop and drive exactly. i remember reading that there was a different resistor in spot R201 or something in the ECU and thats one of the major hardware changes from an AAN ECU to an RS2 ECU in relation to running the RS2 MAF. so what im asking is if its necessary to change that resistor and if there will be any ECU tuning needed for the 968/RS2 MAF on the car?

Not sure if this helps at all, but while chasing a misfire problem on my UrS6, which turned out to be largely the coils, I switched in a fresh RS2 MAF for the original AAN MAF. No difference as far as I can see / feel. MAF is still in place as I'd forgotten I'd swopped it in.

G70 Mass AirFlow (MAF) sensor info

Here is the Porsche "RS2" (originally 944 Turbo) MAF that I have been running with MRC Stage 3 software (RS2 turbo, injectors, MAF, etc) since 2004. I didn't know about that R201 resistor and doubt that it has impacted performance significantly. Did 289 whp (about 360 crank) on a dyno, which is enough for me.

i was reading about the MAF's and the 968 MAF is identical to the RS2 and from what i grasp is the 924 is the same as the AAN/3B etc. well thats good news that that you have an RS2 MAF and it works fine. there was a thread i read on quattroworld.com and everyone kept referring to PRJ and the R201 resisitor but most others running the RS2 MAF on the stock AAN ECU didnt have any problems.

i did read a thread on here about guys running the early VR6 MAF too but there was no real data as to how it affected the engine. one guy said he pulled his plugs after running the VR6 MAF and the plugs indicated that it was running fairly lean. i didnt read about and air/fuel readings or anything like that.

I probably started that QW thread.

There is a perfect explanation for that resistor, which I have posted many times here.
Pure fact, not opinion. The ECU simply can not use the full range of the MAF without the resistor change, so the signal will max out sooner without it.

Thank you dimitri, the info is much appreciated. so having the resistor is technically necessary for everything to function properly.

From what I remember the RS2 MAF electronics are the same as a normal AAN/ABY one, just has different screens.

The R201 resistor is used to increase the scale or range of the MAF value in the ecu so it does not max out as early.

If you fit the R201 resistor you would need RS2 software.

Any one come across or used this place that can apparently repair faulty MAFs?
