Audi s2 problems after new hg++: oil cosumption+ no turbo boost

    Hello.

This winter I changed head gasket and upgraded to rs2-turbo, exhaust+intake manifold and intercooler on my 93 S2. I changed the hg because of white smoke and upgrading til rs2 parts. I did not resurface the head, but cleaned the surface as described in various threads and used arp bolts and correct torque.

    My problems are:

    - The oil is disappearing, no outside leaks on engine. Have taken the car for some short test drives (in total about 100km) and have now put in total of 7 liters of oil First I put in 4,5l, then started up the engine and took a short drive, then I filled up with 0,5 liters. Then it stood still for 3 weeks before I drove it again and filled 1 liter after test drive, and did the same last weekend, because of showing low oil on the dipstick. And the dipstick now shows minimum again .

    - I have changed coolant once after hg change, and it has some "gunk" /oil residue, but not like liters of oil in it. Its not thick. And its not any pressure on the hoses.

    - I have only put on the downpipe for the test drives but it has no smoke coming out!

    - The idle is stable and the engine have no weird sounds. Pulls through rev range but without any or very little boost. The turbo gauge is showing 0 boost all the time. (Its connected to the ecu)

I will try to get the engine and coolant system pressure tested. Anyway, sounds this like piston rings or valves ? Or could it be something far more easy? The car used some coolant and some oil before hg got changed, but nothing more than normal.

    Thanks

    Regards Even

Check the oil cooler is not leaking ,or some other leak. it seem like oil lost under pressure If you are using that much through the engine it would smoke real bad.

Thanks for the tip, it seems dry though. Yes, I know, it should smoke much. Any other suggestion?

The oil cooler on my s6 sprung a leak the size of a pinhead squirting oil straight at the road.

Check the colour of the spark plugs to see if it points toward one cylinder in particular. Is it chucking it out the crank gasket into the gearbox? Rocker cover gasket?

Update: I fixed the boost problem, found a loose vacum hose Took the car for a drive yesterday, drove it hard for about 10km and it reached 100 degrees with the fan on, and after I found some white stuff on the engine oil cap. Not much, but that clear things up I think? Nothing else to do than try to change the head gasket again, and this time resurface the head...

10km probably isn't enough to get everything hot. I'd suggest taking it out for a proper run before pulling the head off again
