Oxalic acid was VERY good, ended up with sludge in the header tank, but this just washed out with a hosepipe, so much easier!
neutralised it with some bicarb, flushed 3 times with clean water and all good now
Hi.
Could you give us a walk through on what you did exactly, how much you used etc?
Would be interesting. ..
I've just ordered some oxalic acid...
Honda CBR 1100XX Blackbird Turbo....undergoing major changes.....
S2 Coupe... bit easier off the line...
'03 ZX12-R daily hack.... lots of nice bolt ons...
Stuck about 6 tablespoons in the header, and left it about a week of normal use, so about 150 miles I guess, then suddenly remembered it was still in there and flushed it all out with clean water -with the first flush I stuck a pot of bicarb in and got it well up to temperature (20 mins) and then flushed with just clean water.
Coincidentally my water pump has failed this week, so new coolant again it seems! I am convinced it is unrelated though, there's nothing in it that Oxaclic acid would eat.
I put 2 dishwasher tablets in.... Drove 1 day, drain than again for 1 day.
After this, i have filled the system with plain water for 2 weeks, time in wich o had to clean the expansion tank from sludge every day.
After i saw no sludge in the tank... I drained the water and filled with propper coolant.
Dont know iff the hoses are cleaned.... I hope .. As after the tablets treatment, inside the hoses thete were sludge deposits...
Hope is gone now. I will check and let you know.
Thank you very much for your recomandations!!
