    Chinese turbos...... any good?

    Hi all,

Has anyone bought one or know of someone that has?

Just wondering if there any good or totally useless I know you get what you pay for but a brand new turbo for the price they offer is unbelievable

    Cheers

If you trawl through some car forums you will get the answer you are looking for. Quality control is poor and they often don't last very long. Worst thing is that it lets go and takes out your engine in the process. Not worth the risk. Buy a good second hand turbo if new is too much.

        Hi!
I have tryed some. Most interesting is next - I did not stop after first defective turbo, but tryed few more.
After that I maded k26/HX35 and later k26/HX40 turbos. Worked nice. Also k26/27/29 was good!

15 years ago I've been in the foundry where they cast and machine the Garrett's snails.
But I'd never go for chinese brands turbo.

lots of holsets done in yorks and lancs.

who knows to be honest where they are made mostly now. i think you can probably find good chinese units too nowadays. maybe worth taking the covers off and having a look at the construction what they arrive.

gotta say you take as much chance with a second hand unit of supposed good original quality. s2 and rs2 units are on average nearly 20 years old.

you also find lots of differing opinions based on individual preference and experience.
