Can i make more power with my Precision 6262?

Looking for some experiences from people running a Precision 6262 on a 2.2 engine.

I like to know if i can make more power with my turbo. Planing on doing some modifications on the engine next winter if it is worth it

Some specs on my current setup:

    2200cc
    1:8.5cr
    stock head/valves
    7a cams
    MTM inlet
    HKS muchroom air filter
Big tube exhaust manifold T4 turbo flange
    T4 .68 A/R hotside
    3.5'' exhaust
PT6262 CEA BB turbo. I do not really like to go bigger For now
    E85 fuel
    Boost-level 2.3bar

So i'm still running a stock head. Any idea on the results when doing a full head job bigger valves and some nice cams? What can i do to get the torque not to drop down after 6000rpm? Is it safe to make more boost now with the stock head or will i over spin the turbo? I also added a photo off the engine bay. Pleas let my know if you see anything that can restrict the power.

    i would tune the head!

i've build my engine also with a 6262. but my goal is 600hp at first.

my setup is very similar to yours.

but my head is ported, combustion chamber are smoothed and polished, complette supertech +0.5mm valves, hard springs, titan springplates...

    700hp is very good with a 6262!

I also would go for mechanical head. Hydros should be revlimited at 7500rpm. You have max torque at 4700rp, and switch gear at little over 7000. Only 2500rpm power band. More rpm gives you more usable power band, an porting will keep the torque up in higher rpms and should improve low rpm torqea bit.

only thing left is the head that you can modify
i know someone who does it for a reasonable price..

Intresting! Do you all-ready have any results with your setup? I'm in doubt if getting my head to max spec is worth the money.

          Thanks!

If i port the head i also like to go mechanical yes. A other benefit is you can also limit the oil flow to the head.

My rev limit is all-ready 8000rpm but as you say its not really worth it to go that high with a stock head.

I'm about to start my build and I'm stuck on which turbo to choose.
            Either a pte6266 or pte6766 both ball bearing with an 0.82-0.91 A/R.
            I'm looking for 600whp on 91 octane + meth and 700+whp on E85
and meth. Everyone on here tells me if I stay stock head and cams to
            not go with the 6766.

You'll know this already, but just to reiterate the obvious.

Source a 7a head and convert it to work with your engines ignition and cooling, as it will be a good base to invest money into in terms of porting, valves, etc. rather than using either your own existing head, or a cracked / about to crack ABY / ADU / AAN head.

It will also reduce the down time of the car and allow flexibility in which head you run at any one time.

              Enjoy.

                @V6quattro,

On the RHS photo in the first post, there is an unconnected nipple on the MTM inlet manifold over the silver metal elbow section of the fuel rail.

Normally this is connected, but not in this case ?

Was just curious, no big deal.

                Thanks.

Yes I know the whole thing with the AAN head cracking.
I guess what people were saying about the head on here
is if I'm not doing good CNC porting, aftermarket cams, springs,
retainers, and ETC. to not go with the Precision PTE6766.

I would use early boost cams from Jonus and leave the rest like it is never the less a maxx ecu.

Was gonna recommend the same... just that here in the USA the only option is CatCams .... do you have a link to these "early boost cams" from Jonus? ...

I current run a PTE5862BB unit & though it makes less power than your 6262 it does wait until 4300rpm to max torque(boost)... I want to stay within 7A cam efficiency (no more than 7200rpm limit) and make more power as well, but as Quattronaut mentioned above, I rather have more than 2500rpm of available power... and all the effective solutions without CNC head($$$) or cams($$) lead to 1 option... Swapping the turbo($). I'm seriously considering a Borg Warner EFR if the GEN2 PTE6062 proves to lose more spool than my current 5862.

To be completely honest the GEN2 PTE6062 might be the perfect upgrade for you as it's rated for 50hp that the 6262 you have now and should definitely spool faster than what you're experiencing now. PTE charges about $600 for the upgrade on your existing turbo.

                      Cheers!
