    044 Pump into a UrS6 - Additional Parts ?

I have a UrS6 and a bare 044 full pump, would anyone be able to list the parts that I need to be able to physically fit the pump, ideally with part numbers - with photos also would be unreal.

My car is pinging on acceleration and feels reluctant to always boost fully each and every single time, and I feel my original fuel pump is under pressure by dint of it's age and now it's repeated daily use.

    Thanks.

      Fried.

Going to check the voltage at the pump.

And try the existing pump with a temporary electrical bypass to allow it to have prefect voltage.

But still want to do the 044 pump anyway.

            Two ways to go:

With V8 60 mm diameter fuel pump cage/basket:

Or with 034s drop in kit (no basket) no sure how that works:

              Hi Dave,

              Thanks for reply.

I am aware of the first option, but I wanted to buy the missing stuff listed below myself direct as I already have a 044 pump.

              Fuel Pump Basket & Strainer
              Check Valve
Fuel Pump Outlet Fitting (Allows for use of the stock fuel line.)

Someone who done this swop in may have made a note of the respective part numbers ?

              Thanks.

The basket and strainer is my main sticking point.

I need to be able to swop the 004 in in one go, as the car is a daily.

Doug_RS2 did this a long time ago and if you want to wade through his build thread, the PNs are probably there.

That is one thing I don't like about the S2Forum search function. I searched for "044" with "Doug_RS2" as the author with "Any Date". I get a 15 page x 15 posts per page RS2 build thread, not the specific post where he describes the actuall 044 install.

Too lazy to wade through that for you. But have fun.

No problem Dave. If it is the same as an S2, I can ask another brainbox on here, who lives nearby.

I had assumed that an UrS6 tank arrangement would be different to a B4 S2 tank as regards the fitment of the two respective fuel pumps. Good to know there are both the same fitment.

Noted re the search function, and I know you know this already, but while this forum may have it's shortcoming, I find quattroworld a complete and utter pita. I don't even bother to try to find how to work the search function.

Can't understand why the guys in charge won't updated their forum's software ?

                    Thanks again Dave.

That is because you are using the wrong quattroworld search. You need to use "old search" with the UrS4/S6/S2/RS2 forum selected, like this:

OLD Search example: Old search on the UrS4/S6/S2/RS2 forum for "044 installation"

If you want to find stuff that I might have written, add 137 in the User ID box and hit return with your search words. I use it all the time, everyday, to find something that I either wrote or commented on.

                          Thanks Greg for that link.

It spawned this one which is good also.

I think (without checking part numbers) the basket is the same in the S2/S4/S6, certainly takes the same pump. I had a peek inside a few fuel tanks of regular 10v 5cyl Audi 100's in the scrap yard and they all had the larger pump basket as the 10v coupes, which is the basket you need for an 044 pump. Never did think to take one mind you.

The normal UrS4/S6 baskets are 43 mm. You want a basket for a 60 mm pump like the early Audi V8 sedan pumps.
