    Special settings for VAGCOM

    Hi,

I have a OBD interface plug (OBD TOOL) and VAGCOM 311-2 and everything works on a 96 VW T4.

When I try to connect to my new S2 ('93 ABY) using a 2x2 connector from VAG-COM themselves, I get 'no response'.

Are there any special VAGCOM settings necessary for the S2???
I have 12V across the black terminals.

    Thanks in advance.. again

    Robin

Nothing special is needed for S2 - just plug and play on the 2x2 OBD plugs...

Only way it won't work is if previous owner has damaged OBD wiring... or it has been chipped badly to remove OBD operations. Can you get blink codes to work ?

Thanks Paul. I'll get hold of a LED and resistor and make something up to check the blink codes. I think the OBD tool that I bought is not compatible with the S2. If I want to get VAGCOM working I think that I'll have to get an interface from them (£160).
Does VAGCOM have much better diagnostics than the fault codes listed on this website? If not, then the there is not much point in me getting VAGCOM. Especially as nothing appears to be wrong, I'm just interested.

Pulling blink codes is a PITA... plus it only works on the engine - nothing else - like ABS, Immo or Airbag controllers on the S2. Plus VAG-COM has the wonderful data-logging facility. It is worth every penny in my view.
