    AAN crank pulley on 3b

I've sourced most of the AAN parts for convert the 3b v-belts to a serpentine set up used on the 3b including the AAN brackets and tensioner.

My question before paying for these parts is:
Are there any issues with swapping the v-belt pulleys on the 3b to AAN pulleys?
I'm not running air con but have read that there could be problems although I was getting a bit confused.

    Cheers
    Guys

What AAN parts are you talking about below? 3 ? 3A? 5?

Be aware that the toothed crank pulley "key" can be fractured by using an impact wrench on the bolt.

This one needs to be replaced, as a result:

You can also snap the pulley key if you don't use a proper crank locking tool when torquing the main bolt. You need to lock the damper, not the crank itself. Do not lock the crank from the flywheel.

            hi there.
i'm doing the same on my 7a currently and i think we might get a problem with the coolant pump here.

or is there a project like this on the www?

Coolant pump should not be an issue.

                is it really not?
i just worried about it, because the ng1,7a,3b coolant pump sticks out a little bit futher towards the front compared to the ng2, aan, aby, adu pump.
the cam belt cover is also a little bit bulged in that area.

Here is the front of a 3B:

The only parts I wanted to change was the alternator, PAS and lower crank pulley so that I can use a single serpentine belt for these items.
I was hoping the cam belt and water pump would be an issue.

the serpentine belt is probably gonna rub at that heightened spot.
                      you know what i mean?

Okay, I guess I will not know until I fit it up and see, maybe able to modify it slightly if it does

There are two damper pulleys: the early 054105251H and the later 054105251J. The early one bolts right up without the washer (item #2), the later one requires the washer. If you don't pay attention to that, both the serpentine and timing belts can end up misaligned.

And if you need that washer, make sure you're sitting down when you check the price. It costs around $100.00! Really - it's diamond coated. Fanciest damn washer you'll ever see on an engine.

                              okay... it doesn't fit.
the damper pulley rubs on the cam belt cover.
and the spring loaded belt tensioner interferes also with the ng1, nm, 7a, 3b cam belt cover.
so if you want to upgrade to the serpentine belt you have to retrofit the cam belt stuff completely from ng2 or aby.
(both cam belt covers, coolant pump, belt tensioner -> need to drill holes into block)
