    2.8 v6 crank differences -

    Sorry -
    Not I5 however -

Is there a difference in crank between the auto and manual on the 2.8 12v circa 97 as fitted to the later 80 cabriolet ?

We are part way through an engine swap and found the hub where the crank shaft oil seal seats is different between the two. Is this part of the crank or can the hub be pulled and swapped over ?

That said, there was a rear crank seal PN change at VIN 8G-W-008 000.

      078103171K up to 8G-W-008 000 and 078103171L after that.

      078103171K:

        That's a great help thanks .

On closer inspection it appears there is a plug / reducer in the end of the crank for the auto which needs to be removed to fit the manual flywheel.

Is there a special puller for this application to remove the plug ?

        Thanks

The bush is no. 14 on the diagram
I did the same swap and tried using pullers and such which just wouldn't get the bush out, in the end I tacked a bolt onto it and used a slide hammer to remove it, came out easy

          Cheers

              Item 14 = 054105329 "bushing" for automatic

Item 14 = 034105313A = needle (pilot) bearing for manual trans input shaft. BK15 x 24 x 26 (you will need this for the manual transmission swap)

                Depending on age....
also fill the bearing cage with grease and using a driftt, slightly smaller than the bearing cage hit the drift.......the pressure of the compacted grease should push the bearing cage out

                cheers
