    rs2 fuel pump

My cap on top of the fuel tank has cracked and it is leaking fuel out the top, the banjo bolt is also rusted quite badly. As it is the original fuel pump and it makes some gurgling noises on start up I would like to just replace the pump and in tank filter as well while I am in there. Where is the best place to buy all these items?

S2 and RS2 are not the same pumps, so not suitable for an RS2.

Maybe but the RS2 fuel pump was not unique/exclusive to the RS2

The Parts department at an Audi main dealer has suggested that the 60mm RS2 fuel pump (Audi PN: 895906089E) was made by Bosch and should have a Bosch part number (but could not tell me the Bosch part number). I contacted one Bosch retailer who said that the 60mm Bosch fuel pump equivalent is Bosch PN: 0580254040. I contacted another Bosch retailer who claimed that Bosch PN: 0580254040 was not the same as Audi PN: 895906089E and would probably not fit the RS2. Can anyone here confirm whether the original RS2 fuel pump was made by Bosch and, if so, what the equivalent Bosch fuel pump is? I am not looking to upgrade the RS2 fuel pump - just replace it with a similar item that will fit easily in the RS2. Thanks.

AFAIK, you are barking up the wrong 60 mm tree. Let RS2 owner's correct me but it is/was my understanding that the RS2 fuel pump is a long-barrelled 43 mm pump, something like this one by Pierburg (below). 60 mm = Bosch Motorsports 040, 005 and 044 and early V8s. Note that the RS2 FP PN did not cross to the V8 therefore it is very unlikely to be 60 mm diameter. See the link below:

UrS4boy, thank you for your helpful responses. My RS2 cranks but will not start. Having read many helpful posts and articles from yourself and others, I started with cleaning the G28 and G4 sensors using electrical contact cleaner. That has not fixed it. Next steps will be to replace parts in the following order to see if the new parts fix the problem: G28 (Engine Speed Sensor), G4 (Crank Position Sensor), G40 (Cam Position Sensor), J17 (Fuel Pump Relay), RS2 fuel pump. Hopefully it will just be the G28 that needs replacing. Do Pierburg fuel pumps have a good reputation? Why have so many replaced their fuel pumps with 044 Bosch fuel pumps rather than the Pierburg RS2 fuel pump?

                            STOP!!

Don't start throwing money at it without testing a few things first. For example G28's rarely fail. Start with the simple stuff.

                            1. The fuel pump - does it pump when you turn the key to RUN and jamb the fuel pump relay (cover off) closed?

You could adapt this DIY to your RS2 situation: http://forums.quattroworld.com/s4s6/msgs/260108.phtml

                            2. Is the G40 Cam sensor working? Test it using a 2V LED, as per Marc S (Mr. EFI Express's) instructions:
                            http://www.efiexpress.com/catalog/ar...articles_id=11 or this:

                            3. Is the coil power fuse blown? OE coil pack wiring has been know to lose its insulation and short out on the cam cover, blowing the coil fuse. Could be as simple as some electrical tape and a new fuse.

Better yet, start with reading this (a step-by-step):

Potential solutions to why your AAN-powered UrS isn't starting (same issues as RS2 ADU):

The S2 and RS2 coil fuse is the S32, a yellow 20 Amp:

S32 is at the far right of the fuse/relay box under the bonnet:
