Stock ABY engine with upgraded turbo and injectors effect limit?

    Hey peeps!

Been searching for a post regarding the power limit for an ABY engine with modded turbo and injectors, but without luck - In other words, how much effect can you pull out of the engine without getting engine casualties if you just upgrade the turbo and the injectors + fuel pump etc without opening the engine and switch out pistons, rods, shafts and so on?

    Best regards

What's your engine mileage? As I spoke to a mapper and he would only go as high as 350bhp if the engine is high mileage otherwise yes take engine out and replace with rods and Pistons and full short block rebuild basically all best

i have tried a couple AAN engines which should be identical to ABY from only of my aspects.i have found the early AAN motors build has
the single layer headgasket which couldn't be handle higher boost.i broke mine on 40,000kms AAN motor after a few thousand kms on GT2871.
there're a lot of threads here talking about the max power on the stock I5.I would do atleast the head job,new headgasket if you're going to
add more power.I might leave the bottom end as is if the compression readings is still within the tolerances.
one of a few I5 from Asia.

If I remember correctly, if you add an RS2 turbo, exhaust manifold and injectors to an AAN (or ABY) and you upgrade the MAP sensor in the ECU to a 3 Bar and then get appropriate software, the limiting factor is the injectors which get maxxed out (90% duty cycle) around 380 hp. Assuming the software is good and there isn't any (or very limited) detonation (pinging) on WOT, the stock rods are fine at that level. This holds true with GT2871/76 turbos too. HOWEVER, once you go for a larger turbo, e.g. GT 3071/76, and bigger injectors you can easily exceed the 380 hp and then you should be thinking stronger rods, just to be on the safe side.

Many tuners won't take an RS2 set up (turbo and injectors, exhaust manifold, 3 Bar MAP, etc) above 350-60 hp so there is some cushion and less likelihood of rod issues. This will be in the range of 26 psig (1.8 Bar) boost.

At least than has been my experience my RS2'd AAN with MRC Stage 3 software.
