    3 Head gaskets

Due to one nonsence i have now 3 new head gaskets lieng around.

Any way on using them ? If yes how ? I've heard someone use 2 of them ?

Do you put them just one on another or what ?

    What are advantages.

    Thanks in advance,
    Vadim.

I have 36 headbolts lying around - but I am not going to use them all

You use the thick inside bit and a compresison layer in the middle of a second headgasket. I would not want to use 3 of them.

Basicly I just take what's is inside from one headgasket(4 layers , i take number 2 and 3 that are inside) and put inside another one ?

What are advatages of such transformation ?

P.S. Before you mentioned headbolts I gonna reuse them , now i think it's a bad idea.

And if you use the doubleCHG,you will max out the cam,and will need an adjustable cam gear.

"max out the cam" what does it mean ? Does DoubleHG have any effect on cams ?

No but the head will come a bit up and therefore timing belt isn't just the right lengt and your timing will not be spot on without adjustable gear.

Remove rivets from both NEW headgaskets - I used a small drill bit

Take the chrome layer and the thick steel middle layer and insert them in the middle of the second headgasket.

                    Now you have:

                    grey pressed layer
                    chrome layer
                    thick steel layer
chrome layer (from number 2 HG)
thick steel layer (from number 2 HG)
                    grey pressed layer

I didn't bother with putting new rivets in the headgasket - as the dowels keep all the layers in the correct position when it is on the head.

Make sure every layer is spotlessly clean.

Make sure the head is not dripping oil - remmber when you move and tilt it to get it on the block you might get drips of oil - this is not good it will get inbetween the HG layers.

I used a couple of small cable ties through 2 of the rivet holes just to keep the HG together until the head was in place.

Doug - you are gold !

Now do you use adjustable gear or it's sounds fine with standart ?

It is fine with standard cam gear - but to take advantage of the lower CR it was remapped.

What would the compression be if using two head gaskets? Isn't in 9.0:1 with a metal gasket?

Is there any sealing issues with using the six layers together?

                            Would it be around 8.7:1?

I think Doug would say if there were sealing issues.
