Okay got my head around it all now ..
My question is ... even though the car can run of the crank sensor of the camshaft sensor goes down while running/shorting ... will this send the car into limp mode ? Because it says if the g40 sensor goes down the ecu will just work off the crank sensor and do the math to carry on running?

I'm not 100% on the above, i was under the impression the sensor is only used to determine the crank phase during startup, but in my experience it does work all the time. I had random ignition cut outs on mine during the warm up phase where the engine would suddenly cut out for a second, then continue on and log a code for the sensor. If it starts playing up at all just change it, it will suddenly fail and leave you stranded, usually when trying to restart a warm engine as that's when they tend to fail.

Also double check you cam timing while your in there, i had a crank pulley key fail on me so the cam timing was shifting back/forth under acceleration/deacceleration. Eventually it moved so far out of spec the engine wouldn't start giving a G40 camshaft sensor error. I got lucky, even if it was two days before Christmas

Ill make sure i check the timing ... its a weird one because like a said if i disconnected the maf it runs with 1 bar boost and if i plug it back in i get no boost ... i changed the maf had same problem i checked all hoses all ok only fault coming up was g40 "/ hence why i wondered if this sensor could put the car into limp mode and not let it boost

That makes no sense to me. I would expect the car to run in limp mode with the maf disconnected, in fact i'm surprised it runs at all to be honest. If/when the ecu is in limp mode you should see .4bar max, if your seeing 1bar i would expect somebody has done some dodgy remapping via the wastegate.

Its really weird i get about .4 bar with maf connected and when i disconnected it i get 1 bar (was running 1.5) thats why i checked all pipes and changed the maf and started with the scanner which came up with the g40 camshaft sensor intermittent fault "/ the car was running grate for a day after i put the rs2 turbo ecu injectors etc on then after that started with this problem. .. u recon its the map? "/

Sounds like loose worn keyway on cam pulley wheel behind crank pulley, check it out before it really makes you sick.
