    additional radiator?

coming from a mainly UR back ground, i am in the process of fitting a ABY into my UR.

Does the ABY have the small additional radiator like the UR or does the cooling system manage without it? Is it worth me fitting it?

The radiator in the UR is 20 years old so i may replace it, do i fit the original UR radiator and the additional one or buy an ABY radiator?
1982 UR Quattro with added 3B power!

You can run without it on the ABY, Audiman, Doug_RS2 Sal_S2 and most of the major powerboys are running systems without the Aux Rad.

Worth fitting the Dialynx rad ? I understand that it is a 4 row and needs no other auxilary rad. Reputed to cost £400 though.

I recently took my aux rad out of the 3B S2 and it's running fine temp-wise.
Ex S2 owner, now running around in an A4 Avant quattro...

I have 3b in mine Type85, with a single radiator-no overheating issues(not taking into account that I have bonnet vent in front of it ). And as far as I remember its the same radiator it used to have when it was 2.2 atmosheric engine.

Just noticed this thread and wondered if you could help me out with a question relating to a standard coupe 2.2 5 cylinder (cant afford an S2 yet.)

I have removed the aux radiator and just have the single side mounted radiator. I plugged the ends of the two pipes that ran to the auxilary rad rather than join the pipes up (I hope that was the right thing to do.)

Will the car be OK, and not overheat when summer arrives ?

You need to blank the pipes off with plugs, if you join the pipes up you give the hot coolant a bypass route around the main radiator!

I don't about the standard coupe's but the S2's run fine in this configuration.

                Deja vu anyone?

This subject seems to pop every now and then.

Ditch the aux rad and blank the hoses only downside is a bit dirtier engine room
