    Trying to choose rods

    Hey folks.

I'm in the process of rebuilding my beaut, and I've chosen to stick to the safe side and get some beefier rods. I have no experience on this subject and thought maybe some of you guys could lend me a hand.

I've got a standard daily driver power target - around 380 HP. Still haven't decided whether to opt for a 7200 or 7400, but rods are planned nonetheless. Since the power is not outrageous I'm good with an I-Beam set? Or should I get H-Beams?

Listings which I'm looking at are following:
    http://www.ebay.com/itm/I-BEAM-Conne...item21020cd9cb
    http://www.ebay.com/itm/H-SCHAFT-PLE...item21026064f9
    Or the more expensive:
    Part number FCPRHA14450620-5FCP Engineering H-beam steel connecting rods 144mmAudi 90, Coupe - 2.3 20V (7A)200, S2, RS2, S4, S6 - 2.2 20V Turbo (3B, ABY, ADU, AAN)

The FCP will probably be the best, but maybe it's sufficient with a little less expensive rods for my target.

And are ACL main and rod bearings any good? Or I can go with standard Glyco/Kolbenschmidt/Mahle units?

    Anyways, please help a noob.

You could run that power without rods, you're not in danger level power wise, just watch the low and mid torque

I went for FCP X Beam, as they're very strong and are rifle drilled, so offer superior lubrication for daily driving.

I know, but the torque is what I like and what I want the most.

X-beams would probably be over my budget.

Get the SCAT rods, cheap as chips and well within your power target, I've been running 600hp with these rods for years.

I also had a standard (ish) 3b S2 which threw a rod out the block wrecking everything apart from the head. Obviously it wasn't the torque that bent the rods, probably detonation (some will say spark hop) and ageing knock sensors, but upgraded rods would have saved the engine.

Are they available in EU? Ordering from outside EU invokes horrible taxes.

You mean JEMO? I bought a coil wiring set + 5coils from him. He's a good seller. But I do not know anything about those rods. It would be pita to disassemble the engine twice.

Then it all comes down to cost, are you balancing the bottom end? i'd go FCP like Rusty but Scat are cheap and good enough for your power level they wont balance as well as they dont seem to match the sets but this was a while ago
