    Don't try this at home

What have I done?? I sprayed some engine cleaner on the cam-cover and the powered by porsche metal cover under the bonnet of my RS2 and poured a half watering can of water over it to wash it off. Next time I started it up the car sounds like it is running on between 1 and 5 cylinders and has no performance at all. If I've wet the spark plugs how do I dry them off? If not what else could I have done?!

you have got water into the electrics - into the coilpacks, or spark plug chambers or injector plugs at least.

You will need to remove everything and make sure there is no water anywhere.

hi did the same thing last week to my S2. Unplug the injectors and coil pack then spray all over with WD40 then dry off with a hair dryer reconect everything then try it i bet you will have all 5 cylinders back and all your power.

Sorted. 15 mins in the local garage with the help of compressed air and a spot of wd40. Back to 5 cylinders and running sweetly. PAS pump due to be fitted next week and that will be my car back to perfect. I've had the car a year now and had a quick look through the bills. It had 85000 miles and a 2 year warranty when I got it. I've put 22000 miles on in the year and spent approx. £2000 during the year on servicing (including oil changes every 5000), MOT and new tyres last week. The PAS pump is the first thing I've had to book it in for other than regular servicing and other than that it has been utterly reliable and is used every day. The maintenance cost per mile is very reasonable considering the age and performance of the vehicle?
