I think we have strayed somewhat from the subject.

Nira i3 works. Nira i3+ is a newer version of the ECU. The new nira i7 doesn´t. I dont know anyone here in sweden that have gotten it to work. they throw it in the garbage can and buy MaxxECU instead.
Niras support isn´t good either. There only answer is that you are doing it wrong...

Does maxx have the audi plug to fit or do you splice cables and connect?

When I first decided to go vems I didn't know of any other ecu that could just connect to the oem plug and not have to pay 3000€ to a tuner to splice in my engines cables to connect any aftermarket ecu.
Also back then all ECUs had their own sensors to use, the majority needing different mounting points, different communication methods etc which meant I had to rely 100% to the tuner.

Judging by the fact that the person that tuned my motronic though very good was a bitch to get hold of when something didn't work correctly for advice I didn't want to go through the same thing with an aftermarket ecu and 5000€ later.

So with almost 1000€ I could mount vems on. Tune it, switch back to motronic in 30 sec and go at it again later etc. Even with mega tune back in the early stages it still ran very nice with the only problem being the idle control. Now of course none of that is an issue anymore.

Yes. The only thing you have to do some wiring for is the broadbandlambda.
        Here are our plugins: http://www.maxxtuning.eu/maxxecu/plugin-ecu/

We always use an adapter, because if you want to get rid if the stock wiring you can just purchase a wiring loom and still keep your ecu.

We have many more plugins on the to do list.

Maxxecu is a nice piece - but what I really miss is a similar function to VEMS tune by statistics or mixture map (there are different names with different ecus)... not everybody has access to a dyno so a VE-Table statistic function to refine the VE table step by step would be very nice...

VEMS sux in injector settings - I dont like the way you have to guess what VEMS is calculating or interpolating... from an ECU I expect to set the given deadtime values from the injectors and it has to work... (like Motronic does) but maybe I expect to much

by the way... fastest Audi S2 in Germany (9,5-241) is VEMS too and mapped by me this year... but I have an eye on Maxxecu and Link because I spent much time to get rid of VEMS issues that were related to different firmware...

Its not the issue to get a high power car for 1/4 Mile with VEMS (If the car is designed well ;-)) - the issues are somewhere else...

Support from VEMS was very good but nevertheless it took time and kilometers on road to solve the issues... and I have detected new issues to solve for next year...

Sure you can add injector deadtime values in VEMS, works fine, but MaxxECU is even easier, you just choose your injectors from a dropdown menu and everything is ready to rock. There are pre-setted a great amount of different injectors in the database, most Bosch injectors as well.

In VEMS you use the injector dead times as given by the Injector manufacturer/or seller. Then you give the injectors size value (Req fuel) and let it interpolate. That way if you change injectors and leave every thing as is the car can run run almost perfect in 15 seconds. I don't see any issue there.

MAXXEcu seems also good but I don't think it is better and surely it is more expensive. If the price was near VEMS price then It cound be a nice alternative.

The injector dropdown database dont work very well beacause many of the EV14 injectors on the market use body from other sizes and the deadtime setting are provided from the seller as measured.

              Just my opinion.

I don't know if this is your experience after doing many cars with different injectors or only theoretical from reading the manual? I can not confirm that from experience.

I know the exact procedure to setup injectors in VEMS, because I did it many many times with different injectors - but I dont like it... simply writing in the deadtime values from injector datasheet to VEMS did never work for me very well... in Motronic no issues with same injectors...

VEMS is calculating a recommended VE Table from a log so you dont have to do it manually. It shows you a recommended value for all driven cells, cell count, max and min.

But I dont thrust the calculations blind, I always check the recommended values to the logfile... but I is a very cool tool to get a fast view where you are...

Of course you can add your own injector settings if you need to.

Ok. You refer to a kind of auto tune. We thought about releasing that. But we don´t want the "home" tuner to burn up there engine. So decieded not release it.

There are to many here in sweden that think tuning the engine is very simpel.

If many start using the autotune and ruin there engine they will try to blame the ecu. And we dont want that kind of negative feedback.

Not really autotune but a time saving calculation function - VEMS has also a real autotune function but I only use this feature in low boost/rpm area sometimes.

I often heard this argument against this function, but for some people (like me) who get very deep into this stuff it is still a cool feature...

But you are right, it is a feature to help at work, not to do the work

Ok. You can use the lambda compensation as a referens for what you want to do.
Set up the lambda tabell that you want. And correct the VE tabell after the lambda correction precentage.
Is one way to do it.

The people that is very deep into this stuff dont need autotune.
