    Crank locking tool

    Hi Guys,

Does anyone have a crank locking tool i can borrow please?
I have tool 3256 but this doesnt actually fit.... is about 1 pulley's thickness away from where it needs to be, which was a lil annoying to say the least as i missed the RR to do this.

Also we never found this out until we had stripped the car down first which was a mission in itself.

I cant make one as i dnt have the bits needed and a welder etc, so if i can borrow one from someone that has one it would be appreciated, i can collect and return from the person that has one within reason, dnt fancy a return trip to scotland LOL but it needs to be got to do the job.

The only thankful thing was that when we got the covers off to have a proper look at the belt you wouldnt have thought it had done 76k miles.... or even half that many for that matter, looked in very good condition all the way around, on both the teeth and the smooth side, so i guess thats a bonus at least.

Hope someone can help, thanks guys

      Anybody????

Undoing shouldnt be an issue but doing up will be, i would say that the reason it doesnt fit is due to the car having aircon, as the tool bolts in to one of the aircon bolt fixings and is about the pulley width too small.... crappy audi LOL

        Ant,
There does seem to be a problem with the officially correct tools on the ABY. Problem being that the pulley is effectively deeper.
Looking back through some threads, it appears that Doug has a homemade tool that will do the job. Give him a try!
