    NM inyectors

    Hello friends,

My restoring of the Audi 90 Quattro NM continuos (future AAN swap) and I have two questions related to inyectors. Someone know the "CC" of the stock inyectors of a NM engine? And the stock inyectors of a ABY/AAN engines?

I searched in the forum, google, autodata... but impossible to find.

    Thanks,

    Karlos

        Some Fuel Injector info

Sorry, I googled the NM PN with "Bosch" and came up dry. The NM and 7A injectors are a different design than the 3B, AAN, ABY and ADU. The NM and 7A injectors use a 034133681B fuel rail. The 3B uses a 034133681E fuel rail; the ABY and ADU use a 034133681N fuel rail. The most recently available AAN fuel rail was 034133681R.

All I have is this from my injector post (http://forums.quattroworld.com/s4s6/msgs/20441.phtml):

"The NM (2L version of the NA 7A), 7A, 3B(200 20vt, early S2), AAN (UrS4/6) and ABY(later S2),and ADU (RS2) engines all use different injectors. It is common for 3B and AAN and ABY owners to upgrade to RS2 injectors when going above 280 hp. Here is some injector info, including rated flows

NM (2L version of the 7A): Audi PN 034133551E (Euro only)
        7A: Audi PN 054133551A

        3B: Audi PN 034 906 031, Bosch PN: 0 280 150 737

        AAN and ABY: Audi PN 034 906 031 B, Bosch PN: 0 280 150 951, flow:
        280 cc/ min @ 3.0 bar (= about 26.7 lb/hr at SG = 0.72)
        315 cc/ min @ 3.8 bar
        323 cc/ min @ 4.0 bar
        361 cc/ min @ 5.0 bar

        ADU: Audi PN 034 906 031 F, Bosch PN: 0 280 150 984, flow:
        360 cc/ min @ 3.0 bar (= about 34.3 lb/hr at SG = 0.72)
        405 cc/ min @ 3.8 bar
        416 cc/ min @ 4.0 bar
        465 cc/ min @ 5.0 bar"

Hi Sir, thank you for helping.

I am thinking to put in my Nm more efficient inyectors, but I cant find the flow of the Nm inyectors to compare with 3b, Aby...

If you can find the Bosch part number on the NM injectors, I think I can find the flow rate at 3 Bar (standard comparison pressure). Then you can compare that to the 3B, etc. injectors.

              Injector Data

The 7a engine uses an injector sourced from Hitachi. I believe that the Hitachi injectors are NLA. I recall that the one I replaced in my Coupe way back when was pricey when sourced from the dealer. It appears from Dave's picture that the NM also uses an Hitachi injector. Replacement with a Bosch injector upgrade would be less expensive. If the 7a & NM engine use the same style injector you could use an available 7a injector upgrade kit sourced from various vendors. The part # listed for the Bosch injector used in the 034efi 7a injector upgrade was also used in a 5.0 Ford Mustang. I would believe the flow rates for the upgrade injector kit would be "close enough" between the NM & 7a.

              Found this.
Ok, I have been following most of this search by various posters. I would also like to find replacements. People have been throwing out various numbers for injector flow, hi impedence, low impedence, etc. I just want to get some facts sorted out. So I am going to state some quantities and you...

              And this.
Referencing information found in the Bentley shop manual.

You can calculate the flow rate from the above information.
              HTH, Chris

But they don't. From my previous post in this thread:

NM (2L version of the 7A): Audi PN 034133551E (Euro only)

                  7a fuel rail

But if the fuel rail is the same between the two engines then they are using the Hitachi injector. The fuel rail is a bespoked design that I have never seen used anywhere but on a 7a. I have not seen an NM engine to comment further.

Agree that the NM and 7A share a unique fuel rail and that probably both fuel injectors were made by Hitachi. However, since Ekaterina shows two different PNs for the NM and 7A injectors, I have to assume that their flow characteristics (cc/min at 3 Bar) are indeed different. So, no Bosch PNs but maybe if there were Hitachi numbers, the flows could be tracked down and compared.

As far as I am aware that they can be changed from each to each. I have broken a lot of these engines and seen the injectors. Difference is zero just the color from fordt sight. Have tested NM injectors in 7A engine and everything went good. Although some difference there is, because mainly 7A injectors are dead, but at the same time and age NM is in better condition. All in all in NM engine can be used 7A injectors and opposite.

The fact that 7A and NM injectors are physically the same configuration/shape and that they can be swapped between 7A and NM fuel rails does NOT make them the same. There is a real difference between the two, otherwise Audi would not go through the effort and expense of listing two part numbers. They are different. It is the "how" that we are trying to figure out.

If you posted up the Hitachi numbers for these 7A and NM injectors, it might be possible to figure out the difference in flow rates or impedance, etc.

Took my own advice and poked around and found the Hitachi numbers.

NM (2L version of the 7A): Audi PN 034133551E (Euro/SAmerica only) = Hitachi AESJ22-50 (from the photo I posted)

7A: Audi PN 054133551A, Hitachi AESJ22-80 (from this eBay link: http://www.ebay.com/itm/Oe-Audi-Cent...p2047675.l2557

Now to find a website with AEJS 22-50 and 22-80 info.

Workshop manual from 4/90 for NM engine says:

                            System pressure 2.55-2.95 bar
Injector flow rate ml/20sec: 90-110 ml
