Guess that is what I will do in future because........on further investigation the spark plug thread needs to be recut on this cylinder.......and the plugs on the other 4 were only hand tight......I didn't realise it was such a problem with these engines.....see http://www.s2forum.com/forum/showthread.php?t=36603

          Doh!

The question now is if this does not work do I take the head off to helicoil or use a time-sert with the head in situ and risk swarf going in the cylinder? Answers on a postcard please!

Sorry for your loss. All of the 20Vt engines, i.e. 3B, AAN, ABY and ADU have a problem with keeping their sparkplugs tight over many heat cycles. The plugs work themselves loose and under high boost, the loosest one will blow out of the head, often stripping the thread.

Checking the sparkplug torque is No.1 on my list of things to remember to do in the monthly reminder list. (which I just bumped back to the front page).

TimeSerts, etc. can be installed by trained professionals with the head still on the car.

As for coils, because yours is an RS2, I would stick with OE coils and POSs despite the cost. Allows you to keep running the 20V Turbo coil cover plate that the 2.0L TFSI coil packs don't like (heat issue)

Just noticed that your ADU wastegate cap has a very bodgy/dodgy non-OE Bolt and nut arrangement for adjusting the compression on the wastegate spring. Not serious but it detracts from the overall ADU goodness IMO.
