    quick oil pressure question

Just wanted to ask regarding oil pressure on my aby engine.
When it's cold I got 5 bar pressure
When it's hot I have 1.2-1.3 bar on idle
When revs up to 2500-3000 rpm I got 3 bar pressure on hot engine
The question is: Oil pressure won't go past 3bar on hot engine no matter if it's 4000rpm or 6500 rpm, it just won't go past 3 bar. Is that normal? If no, what does it mean?
    Oil 10x40
    Thank you guys!

What is it when driving in high revs, should be 4/5.
1.2/3 at idle on warm engine is normal

What weight oil are you running? 3 Bar is too low.

Had 0.8 at idle on mine. Hot engine barely 2 bar at 2000 rpm. Turned out to be a bearing fault.

Cold engine 5 bar at idle.
Warm engine at idle 1.5 - 2 bar
Warm engine when revving 4 - 5 bar

This is what I have with 20W50 in the summer. I think it is normal. Less than 2 Bar on hot idle would concern me.

I'm using 10x40 oil. So what are you guys thinking? Is that mean main bearing on the way out or worn oil pump.
If it is oil pump then, as thuppu suggested shimming should help, but for how long?
Is it anything else that can course that?

Checked mine again at warm idle and the needle sits just a little under 2 bar so about 1.8 bar. My old s2 coupe with half the miles was the same so i am happy it is fine

5w50 oil and 4-5bar above 1500rpm and normal driving, 1.8-2bar at idle on warm engine. When ambient temperature is high or after a lot of fast driving then hot idle can be slightly lower say 1.5-1.7bar.

                      20-50 seems really thick oil?

all the way down to as low as 1 bar at idle (hot) is ok.

Are you sure shimming is the correct solution? I just helped a rebuild on 1989 220v, all bearings remained original '88 with the tolerances in factory spec. Looser end of the spec, but still within spec. The car had 1.5Bar on hot idle measured on mechanical gauge as the interior gauge shows around 0.5-0.8bar less, and 5+bar on revs (5W40 oil). After the rebuild the interior gauge is between 1.8-2.0 on hot idle (approx 2.5Bar in real world). The oil pressure loss was actually because of the leaks between pressure side on the pump and block and also the oil pickup was loose.

Instead of shimming it i would measure the rod bearings for wear and make sure there are no internal oil pressure leaks that are not obvious. Without finding out the cause and just applying remedy you are only fooling yourself, fix it.

According to which Audi technical service bulletin? Too low IMO.
