    Installing of upgrade RS2 parts

    Hi Gents and Ladies,

Please see my list of Upgrades and Sequence of installation.
Please add in comments if you disagree with the sequence or things I need to add in.

I have all the parts for the upgrade, I have purchased everything and all I have to do now is fit them.

    1 Install RS2 intercooler.

2 Dyno the car stock, see performance is equal to standard RS2. If the performance is equal to a standard S2 then proceed to step 3 if not take to Audi, Audi to do a complete service oil change etc and locate issues causing performance issue. Return to start of step 2 until Audi have corrected any issue that prevent the car from performing to that of a standard ABY S2.

3 Install Upgraded coil conversion kit and R8 Coil packs.

4 Test car for a while.

5 Install larger pump basket and new Bosch 440 pump. (Wiring mod will be done)

6 Fit new Bosch 440cc injectors.

7 Install replacement upgraded ECU complete with 4 bar sensor upgrade.

8 Test car is running ok
Advice needed. Is it ok to run as it is only points 1 – 6 completed. RS2 Turbo and inlet manifold not yet installed.

9 Install RS2 Turbo and manifold.

    10 Test run.

11 Take car in for DP and exhaust upgrade.

    12 Test run.

13 If all ok return the car to the original place that did the first dyno test. Compare to stock.

14 If car gets 360-380hp and runs well mods have finished go and enjoy myself

Do it is not the question. It is getting done.

I have all the parts stores away. All new or have been overhauled to the highest of standards I was able to get.

My concern is the availability of a person to assist me if things go wrong. When you change everything at once and you have a fault you basically need to go over everything all over again.

I think by breaking down the full job into bite size section makes fault finding a bit simpler if anything goes wrong. Although I do have concerns with running the car at the various fitment stages.

And I would have a measurable base to work from stock to upgrade performance.

Or am I being over cautious.

I think it's the right way to approach changes. I changed a huge amount in a 3 week period and it did make fault finding very difficult...
Honda CBR 1100XX Blackbird Turbo....undergoing major changes.....
S2 Coupe... bit easier off the line...
'03 ZX12-R daily hack.... lots of nice bolt ons...

It will be an ongoing process no matter how hard you try to do things once this would be great but rare I did mine recently and the usual things pop up when increasing power. Weak coils, boost leaks, spark plugs failing, then all the other additional things that more power affects like drive system bearings bushes ball joints etc

Get everything fitted, make sure you have a boost gauge if you are using all RS2 with ECU no reason why you need it mapped again unless you want to tweak things up a bit from standard RS2, good luck with the project. It's fun when it's going right but can be really testing and expensive when it's not

The RS2 cooler on it's own won't make any difference so don't waste money putting it on a Dyno for that

I have had the intercooler fitted before the body shop put the front end back on.

It was done that way to save having to remove any body parts after a complete repaint.

Worries about scratching the new paint job.

I felt putting it on a dyno at the beginning will serve two issues 1, Gives me a base to work from and 2, Tells me if the present standard system is working correctly before any changes are done.

The car mechanically is in a very good condition, it has had lots of money spent on all the mechanical features, other parts failing should not be an issue.

Only thing not done is the clutch and head gasket, I will do them if/when they fail.

Sounds like exactly the kind of plan I need to get my **** in gear and get on with!

Although personally I would service it myself or take it somewhere else other than Audi, and the upgraded coils aren't needed (unless you have problems with misfiring etc, then the new style coils are a cheaper replacement than renewing the originals).

I would do the service myself but as my car has done less that 100,000km/62500 miles Audi do all my repairs and servicing for free.

It was part of the original purchase agreement when the car was launched in South Africa. Unlimited time 100,000km/62500 miles Audi will repair/maintain the car.

The car is in top condition.

All the ABY parts are perfect and will be kept. If the car ever gets sold all the original parts would be sold with it so it could be put back to standard without any addition costs.

Sounds good buddy. I got to step 1 a couple of years ago and haven't moved any further Although I have got performance brakes and suspension should I ever get round to some power upgrades!

make sure you have a boost gauge

I do not have a boost gauge.

                              What range is recommended
Which is the best place to connect the pipe.

                              Thanks for the advice
